Back, as promised. From what you're describing, that could be a tricky fix since the component involved here is the Gate Array (IC30) - which is, you guess it, a custom IC. But maybe there's hope: first test your power supply to make sure that everything is within parameters. It's possible that the ...

That PSU schematic can help you out greatly: http://www.emulatorarchive.com/assets/P ... ematic.pdf
As you can see, be it from the schematic or with the real thing in hands, just a minimum of desoldering and resoldering. Just observe what wire goes where and bam! magic. Easy fix.

The hissing is essentially due to dying/dead filter capacitors (electrolytic) and/or failing ICs. But before going out wild on the PCB, please check the capacitance of the caps located in the power supply and up the circuit. Usually, when caps begin to die, the others follow (not necessarly automati...

Re: EDIT found problem.Prophet-600 from Wine Country Sequent
Thanks for the advice. It turns out the pitch was calibrated properly, but the pitch wheel isn't seated properly. The middle notch, where the pitch wheel rests doesn't return the pitch back in tune. This seems like something that COULD have been damaged during shipping, but probably not. They say t...

Re: EDIT found problem.Prophet-600 from Wine Country Sequent
Is it possible for the Prophet to have gotten out of tune due to rough handling on it's way here? The box wasn't battered or anything and they did a great job packaging it safely (multiple layers of bubble wrap and foam peanuts). I'm pretty annoyed after having spent just about $1000 for what I was...

Before you do anything, contact those useless morons AND sum 'em to fix it up. They are supposed to be pro, then they should act like pros and do the job right. plus you paid top bucks for c**p job. Their responsability! See why I hate them? Talk with member DJ Fetus, he's been screwed up the wazoo ...

I've heard people complain about the "chip based" sound. Is there anything to this, or is the difference in sound due to other factors? Yes, the all-digital ones. They sound colder, sterile and thin compared to their analog counterparts. But they are very stable. The difference is attenuing year by...

VCC = Supplied Voltage = Positive VSS = Supplied Voltage = Negative After that, it's only a matter to follow the schematics, indicating the in and the out of the pins. More than a continuity test, it's a (basic but efficient) way to narrow down what part of the chip is bugging down. PLEASE RESPECT T...

That's the one, sadly it's only chapter 1. Surely it's available in PDF/Torrent somewhere. Nothing beats a real book though. Thanks for sharing! VCO has many incarnations: from a circuit in itself to an integrated circuit (IC). So no, you're not an idiot. And there's the one-chip wonder: the DCO. Us...
