I dunno if the threads still exist in General Synthesizer but I remember among other that Jabberwalky cursed his soul to h**l trying to update his Ion. I don't remember the others but there was a few.

At this point, I would suggest you to get ahold of the service manual and launch some tests. You need to have the technical data to see your way through.

The service manual is surely available online (free or not so free). Sometimes they pop on eBay too.

The tact switches are really not expensive. Please have a look at digikey.com or mouser.com or you can even grab a bag for dirt cheap on eBay.
