yeah plugging into a synth is rather limited. You get (as previously mentioned) the filters. You also get the vocoder, but putting a guitar through it will sound like s**t and will take quite a creative mind to get it to sound good.

I dont even know if the Q has a vococer.

Good luck!

You can't process realtime audio on the ESX. So essentially you can't use it as an fx unit. I've tried, and really wish i could. But yeah you could sample then put it thru FX.

Alright so I have a program called goldwave that I sometimes use for editing. I think I can record into it. If not, I'll just get audacity or something cheap (Edit: free) like that. All I need is the file of the sample....

Amen. I would say that is the mathematical representation of GAS.

If I see a synth I like and doesn't sound like any I already have...chances are im gonna get it.

I dont think the 500 can auto-slice which im bummed about. But I've said it before, I'm used to manually chopping on my ESX. I've been collecting samples I'd like to work with. Some of them I can separate out via start/stop times, but others are more difficult.

Oh and if you like school of 7 bells, listen to Ben's old band The Secret Machines. Absolutly amazing space rock...theres been a few threads about them. I was heartbroken when he left to pursue SVIB.

I loved his show. Saw him late in november. Pretty accurate description of what was going on. With the combination of the live drummer and the MPC it had a great sound. I was skeptical at first when I saw the drummer setting up, but in the end he really makes things better than Guillermo and the oth...

Thanks for all the input...even the libraries...they give me an idea of whats out there.

So JS when you take these hits, do you have to EQ stuff out thats on top of it? Or do you just find a single hit?
