thanks for the heads up natahscribe!

i feel a lot more confident using MOTU gear with a mac now, the drivers on my 828mkii work so much better than they did on my PC.

midi interface opinions

so my midisport 2x2 doesn't transmit/recieve on one of its input/outputs (its been good to me, i have had it for 7 years!) and i am thinking about a new midi interface. i was considering the MOTU MIDI EXPRESS XT as i dont really need all the fancy timing hoopla of the bigger one, but the ability to ...

does this exist?

i am looking for a way to use a "grid sequencer" to control hardware synths in a software environment. i normally use my RS7000 for this but it gets a bit messy and previous to that i controlled samples in redrum in reason, but want to know if there is a program i can use in conjunction with live 7....

Altitude: im not expecting a fantasy of "becoming more creative", but i don't like sterile feeling/non creative environments either. i think the midi issues have been worked out in live 7.0, however i am open to the possibility of working with logic in addition to live in the future, but it seems li...

i understand. now that i think about it, it seems like maybe the Korg Karma was supposed to bridge that gap then? the karma was about control over rythmic elements of the sound (including synth parameters), versus these being more about "styles" (aka a complex preprogrammed apregiator set to X genr...

update: the new imac came in the mail today and in addition to looking pretty it works prefectly so far. as a first time mac user i am really impressed. i have been playing with the live demo to learn how it works and i really like it a lot so far. i hadn't tried it since version 4.0 when i got a fr...

Oh believe me, there are TONS of pros using these arranger boards on tours and on albums. The pop business is very much based around a core of people that play on other people's albums, specially the radio-friendly stuff. They don't wanna spend hours programming a strings sound or THAT bass sound w...

its terrible but those professional arranger type keyboards sell really well. i wish korg and yamaha would start making cool synths, but it seems that a lot more of their efforts are invested in the PA and tyros series of keyboards instead.

OH NOES!

the sherman can have some very nice subtle effects, but it takes a bit of work. the easiest thing to do with a sherman is to tear things apart, but it is not all it can do.

1. this goes in sound production

2. for 600 bucks i doubt its better than a sherman filterbank, but its hard to say.

no fair if you work for them. We'll see when the Origin hits the streets. Yeah.. I guess we'll see.. When it hits the pavement, face down, and actual POOP leaks out of it! WTF? i was not a fan of what i heard from the demo product video on sonic state from NAMM this year, but the guy was more about...

musicians friend = guitar center = BAD NEWS.

next time try nova muzik or AH next time if for no other reason than that they are more supportive of and cater more strongly to the synth community.

really, it doesn't look like DSI is doing anything wrong here at all though.
