I don't think there are any Synclavier emulations, I think you may be able to get hold of samples. Waldorf do an emulation of the PPG. It's quite qood. There is another called the WaveSim. I think it is a little more accurate, but it's much harder to programme because you basically have the original...

It is a good one. The hardware synth was interesting with the unusual filter and additive synth option and that's carried over into the emulation. The presets are quite good too.

I use a mix of soft and hardware analogue. I use the analogue because; 1. I find it easier to programme on the knobs and sliders of the analogue hardware, my eyes get tired on PCs. Often being a bit more limited the simpler hardware synths are more immediate in setting up a sound. 2. Personally I fi...

I think it may be the D50 set up. I use a U20 which I think is from the same era and it works fine with Mtron. I didn't touch the midi at all, I'm more a plug and pray man...

it's good that Tristram wasn't "forgotten" and that you were able to be there in person.

I hope his work is properly archived. having been recently bereaved myself I know it's hard for a partner to be able to deal with some of these issues while grieving.

I think the Plan B modules are worth a look.

Wiard does have a "west coast" slant, but I think has a different (excellent) flavour at the moment.

I don't use the synths that much, but Bluedad's recommendations are good ones. I do like SIAC.

There is a nice OB-Xa clone too. It sounds a bit different from the normal Reaktor synths.

You can use the search function to pick out the most popular, they are often a good guide.

Have fun!

Titus Alone (Loop based)

Not sure how I would classify this. Heavily "Frippotronics" based with a few other elements.

This site is running so slow I can't check what's in the ad. You can't get a new AKS from Robin, they don't have the parts. I've been on the list for a VCS3 and with mods that's about £4k (sterling) a Synthi A would be about £3k, maybe a bit less without any mods. I've been on the waiting list since...

You may find having a cheap software sequencer handy. I'm now re-integrating my old analogue monosynths via a CV/Midi converter. As the SH2 keyboard is whacked it's allowed me to use it for the first time in years. Re softsynths, I have the Arturia Modular Moog and the CS80V which I use alot. For th...

I'd tend to go for the Waldorf over the Fizmo..seems to many stories about problems with Fizmos. Personally I'd love a PPG and probably I could possibly afford one but the reliability issues put me off. As a slight aside, I wonder if the Miniwave/ Waveform city designed by Grant Richter counts? and ...
