I'm moving back to hardware and had been wondering about some sort of old school polysynth without the reliability issues of an Oberheim, CS80 etc..this sounds very good on that demo. I also liked what sounded like a PPG wavetable. Very encouraging.

My understanding is there are two versions. One is the stand alone with a power cord so you just do a CV connection, the other is the one in username's pic which I don't know how it can be used other than in OB Xvoice. I think one is SEM 1A or something.

well Camel Audio Camelion500 will do it. You give it a sample and it does analysis. You can then fiddle with partials etc. I have to say it doesn't sound so fantasitic to me. I think there is another oft ynth that does it. Have you tried KvR Audio and looked in their database?

I doubt it. There are several FM synths and resynthesis programmes. I don't think the market is there for something that specialist.

I started with a Steinberg product, something like Pro24? Then Cubeat, now Cubase (gone up to CubaseSX3 ..I've stopped upgrading). When I rang the tech support for Cubase I found they still had the my registration from Cubeat which would have been mid 80s. I was astounded!

Don't forget there are effects within R5. And loads in the free user library..as long as your PC can take the strain.

Depending on your music you may be glad to have Absynth and Kontakt is very good.

I believe Yoozer is right. I have a Soundclick site. I specify the copyright level, mine, commons etc. After that I set a price which can be zero. There's something about samples that are within libraries or synths. I don't think you own them even if you buy them. You are granted a very specific lic...

Sorry can't help, I've never used used it as an effect. I have found at times it doesn't do what it's supposed to. The Yahoo group is quiet now I think.

I guess the miniwave is digital/hybrid. I have mine in Frac format, I'll probably get another. Lots of digital wave tables(I also have a PPG/VS EPROM) which can be scanned via a CV input. Also can be used as a quantiser. I also think the Wiard Noise Ring is digital. I don't fully understand it, I've...

I think about £5,000 in perfect order. The RL Music/ Kent Spong restored ones are that price so I guess that's the upper limit.

Mark Jenkins..I suggest the book was a reprint. He's an electro-musician going back to the 80s, I doubt if he would have got the price that wrong. He also writes for SOS.

well done. I also have a SH2 and CSQ100 from new 1980. I was always disappointed in the reviews, it was my only synth and I loved it. Since getting the Kenton unit I've started recording with it again (the CSQ100 I'm not using at the moment). If anyone is interested about half way through this it's ...

Yes, several of them used VCS3s. Nik Turner recently sold his AKS. They also used "audio generators" on things like Space Ritual. I think Dave Brock also used a Korg MS? . Then in 78/79 Tim Blake joined with his VCS3s, minimoog set up.

well there's a 1983 tape of Serge demos knocking around and a number of recordings are mostly Serge if you want to hear them in a musical context.

It looks fantastic, and actually not so expensive after all. If I wasn't in the middle of building another (two) system I'd go for these. I may well get one in future.

James, is this a limited run or it's intended to continue this line for a year or two?
