Free Soft Synth Host For Mac OS X

I have been using Cantabile to run soft synths on a pc. Is thee a free equivalent host program for Mac OS X? I'm looking for something straight forward and simple, not some complicated do it all sequencer program.

It could be confusion with the the acronyms ASM as in Analog Synthesizer Module and ASM as in Analog Sound Modeling which is the acronym Novation uses on the front of the Drumstation.

I just picked up an MC-303 real cheap. Got it yesterday. I haven't started trying to program the sequencer yet so I can't comment on that, maybe later tonight. So far I will say that it's not half as bad as people say it is. Some of the sounds aren't bad at all(some of the drums are excellent) and t...

When I had one I used it mostly for bass and vocoding. I didn't do much patch programming or experimenting because I didn't really care for the interface. Trial and error is much easier on the K Station :)

I had one of these. I thought it was pretty good but I've never used the others so I can't compare.

How does it compare in sound? I see it's about $100 less expensive?

Thanks for that link man. Itll come in handy later on for sure. But guys, what do you think about a Korg Radias/Electribe ESX/EMX combo for music like Industrial? Cause I like the sounds the radias makes. I think the ESX would be great for industrial. You can really twist and mangle your samples up...

Where exactly would you get replacement tubes if the time ever sprung up that the tubes gave out? I don't want my Electribes to become a dustbox. www.eurotubes.com These guys are great and will answer any questions you have about replacing your tubes and getting the sound you're after. I ordered re...

The vocoder on it really sucks though. I completely disagree. The vocoder on the K Station is actually quite amazing. What makes you think it sucks? I used to think so too, and then I started actually using it. The few presets they put on there are complete junk and I'm surprised they're even on th...

Yes, but the OP said his friend was looking for something cheap and to most people $500 isn't cheap.

Most "grooveboxes" don't cost $500 though, especially used. I paid less than $200 for my EM-1.

Korg Electribe EM-1. Very simple, decent sounding, and relatively cheap(under $200)
