How many mega amps is too many?

Is it ok to use a 9 volt 1000ma power supply with a unit that calls for 9 volt 200ma? I tried it, and it worked fine, but will this cause damage if used over a prolonged period?

Replacing key(MS2000)

How hard is it to replace a key on a keyboard, specifically the MS2000 if that makes any difference? It's not something that needs to be done, the key is fully functional, it just has a small piece broken off underneath and a crack running across it horizontally. I don't want to open up the synth an...

I prefer the sound of the 808, mostly due to the kick. Can you get those long decays on the 909?

Someone give me an all-analogue Electribe EA-1, and I'll be in heaven. (I can dream, can't I?) It wouldn't even necessarilly have to be that expensive considering Next can make those Space Bass analog rack units and sell them for $299. Just essentially throw one of them in an Electribe and they cou...

Nice problem to have  If you're only using the LP as a controller than the choice is obvious. There's no way a synth that nice should be relegated to controller status. I'd keep them both until you decide which one you really want(assuming it's not practical for you to keep both).

Novation Bass Station and Novation Bass Station Rack... definitely. Turning the knobs makes me afraid that they'll come loose. Now the Novation Super Bass Station.. there's good quality. I had the same feeling with the Bass Station rack and the DrumStation rack. Two very good machines that could ha...

hoping for an ESX with better storage medium, usb to load samples from a computer and a real lcd screen... I hope they don't have a "real" lcd screen actually. That would translate to too much menu diving, page scrolling, and other non inspiring things that are best left to a laptop. not for parame...

Re: Cheapest build quality?

What synths/drum machines have you played/handled have the cheapest build quality? My rule of thumb is: If you torque it in your hands and it creaks, that says something about build quality. :) First generation Electribes The first generation electribes were built very solidly imo. My nominee is th...

new electribe from korg would be sweet.I would like a bumped up version of the ER1.With more outputs maybe like 8 and be more like the roland tr and jomox stuff with better compression and wicked live features. I wouldn't be surprised if any new electribe would be both sampler and synth based... An...

You can probably get a Novation Bass Station for around $250. If you want a really cheap rack synth the Yamaha TX81Z for around $75 or less if you don't mind fm synthesis.
