Re: Making songs?
I probably wouldnt pay too much attention to that tweakheads thing : ''Trance works by building up elements and dropping them out and adding new ones. Sort of like driving your car on the expressway with an every changing landscape, with the throbbing of the motor keeping it all unified.'' sweet lo...

Re: Drum Boxes: Korg ER-1 vs Quasimidi 309
If you're at all curious about the ER-1, I say just get one and try it out. You should be able to find one for at least half of what 309s (if you can even find one; I think the low production numbers of Quasimidi gear—compared to Korg—probably account for your comparative lack of fans) usually go fo...

Re: FlexiKnobs - Multipoint Interaction w. Software Instrume
I sure am glad "some people" invented MIDI to help us make better use of the softsynths on our laptops.
Looks like a fun toy, but ultimately unwieldy and impractical as a means of control. Do they reckon you'll have a desk (or maybe and air-hockey table) full of these things?

Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY / CRAIGSLIST LISTINGS HERE!!!
Another word of warning regarding the power supplies, I've had no luck finding a generic power supply that even fits the odd-sized jack on the ModFX units (all of mine came with power supplies, but I was considering buying one off of Ebay once that was missing its wall-wart) and my attempts to conta...

Re: Looking for new polyphonic analogue synth
With a polyphonic Midi-CV Interface. Well, yeah, but a polyphonic Midi-CV interface can turn any stack of analog monos into a poly. The Dark Energy specifically has a feature that allows you to chain 2 or more of them together (without any additional gear) and achieve polyphony. From the Dark Energ...

Re: is there a MIDI equivalent to 360 systems slavedriver?
The G2M reads and triggers Monophonically for anyone wondering why chords are not working I don't think anyone was, but thanks. No need to be offended ... just a couple responses mentioning chords so I just thought I'd clarify just in case some didn't know. Not offended, just amused, since a...

Re: Name your all-battery-operated synth setup
My CZ-1000 chewed through those D-cells pretty damn quickly the one time I tried it. I think the battery option for the CZ's is best viewed as a novelty rather than a viable alternate means of powering them. ;) The only other battery-powered things I have are the MiniKP, DR-110, and Zoom MRT3b drum ...

Re: is there a MIDI equivalent to 360 systems slavedriver?
the latency is somewhat perceptible, it won't kill the groove but its not very "live" sounding if you know what i mean. Is it such that you could compensate for it by tailoring the synth patches you're using with it to play to the limitations? Also, do you get any cool accidental sounds if you do p...

As far as I know, you're just paying for 4 extra expansion slots.

Re: reamp, DI, preamp... i'm lost
Re-amping usually implies an amplifier somewhere, like taking a DIed recorded guitar track and running it out into a miked Marshall. For just running stuff into guitar pedals, I wouldn't worry at all about impedance and not much about levels either. Still trying to figure out the technical specific...

Dark Energy has a poly-chain option as well. That's a pretty unique feature for a semi-modular.

Re: is there a MIDI equivalent to 360 systems slavedriver?
There's the Sonuus G2M. http://www.sonuus.com/products_g2m.html Wow, wasn't aware of that product. Looks pretty cool. I was never interested enough in the whole guitar synth thing, largely due to cost, but at $100 it might be worth a try. Seems to get pretty good reviews from what little I've dug u...
