Yeah, drum programing has always been my weak point. It's what I've been trying to work on lately. Unfortunately (or fortunately for me really), I'm moving back to my former home of Austin, TX in August. I can't handle the Boston winter (i.e. October - April) anymore. With all the stupid quasi-genre...

It can make acid type sounds...but the sequencer is totally different than the 303 style sequencer (which has slides, etc) and the fact that you can only tweak one parameter at a time makes it not much of a tweaker...like a typical acid synth. Could you not just use one of the extra sequencer track...

i think that most of us get frustrated with er-1 when we expect it to be the main drum machine. for me, it shines as an additional spice to the main rhythm +1. I've only had mine for a week or so (a friend gave it to me for free because it was "broken", just had to re-solder the power jack to the b...

The VCO routes through the usual Roland digital filter and VCA. So no analog filters or VCA. Whaaah?! So you can have that charming old-school tuning instability, but keep the coveted, modern, all-digital sound that everyone loves? Here are the new products that will be coming out in my fantasy wor...

Aside from recording at higher levels to begin with (which is probably the best solution), if you want to make already recorded stuff louder without using compression you could look for an audio program that will do "Normalization". That way you can increase the volume without changing the dynamic r...

Don't know about that Lexicon, haven't used one. But as a good all-around multi-FX box, I can personally recommend the Boss VF-1: http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/products/en/VF-1/ They're not too hard to find on Ebay and usually go pretty cheaply (I think I paid roughly $150 for mine, about two months ago...

...Rice, uhh I mean Spectral Shapes, is the future." I finally got around posting up a MySpace page (still very rudimentary, just made it about 30 minutes ago) for my "band". http://www.myspace.com/spectralshapes The songs I have up now are all a year or more old, but criticisms/suggestions are welc...

Also, I just picked up an MFB Filterbox (lots of fun so far; thank W. for that $600 check, about time he did something right) He won't thank you for using it like that... weren't you supposed to spend it on something made in the US? ;) Oops! But all the cool-looking filters are made by Germans, Bel...

Loading down of CV voltages depends on the drive capability of the source and the impedance of the destinations... Cool, thanks for the info. I don't know if I would buy the Kraftzwerg or not. The Future Retro XS is more appealing (despite being more expensive). Kraftzwerg just looks like a really ...

NiMH batteries don't hold their charge as well as alkaline non-rechargeables. They actually run down over a couple of months just sitting around. Yeah, I just hate buying non-rechargeable batteries. I reckon I'll keep an extra set of four around, and routinely swap in a freshly charged set every tw...

Cheap and inelegant is just my style. More general modular question -- my modular/electrical knowledge is next to nil so excuse me if it's a daft one (and I'm sure it varies based manufacturers and individual modules) -- but into how many different pieces can you usually split a single CV sig...

Thanks Graham. I tried doing a Google search on the part number, but that only brought up Japanese language sites. So I've e-mailed korgparts.com to see if they can help. P.S. I came across your CZ battery back-up info on another forum: http://www.jz-server.de/forum2/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtop...
