True.
I guess I'm just into the idea of a pretty fully-featured modular for under $1000, that doesn't take up too much space, even if it ends up taking two boxes instead of one. Seems like it would still be pretty easy to pack up and carry around if you needed to.

Hey, regarding the no Mults, and possibly no portamento thing, what about getting one these Doepfer Mini-cases with one or more of these Mult modules , and a Slew Limiter (and h**l, throw in an extra filter while you're at it)? I've not gotten into modulars yet, so please correct me if there's some ...

Depending on how much -ish you want with your cheap, you might check out the Electrix WarpFactory (goes for around $200, has a pretty good reputation and I can personally vouch for it having satisfied all my vocoder needs, for now anyway  ) or the Alesis Metavox (can be had for around $50?, no...

Electribe L/mono Out socket replacement?
A friend just gave me a free ER-1 (mk I), after a bit of repair (i.e. soldering the power socket securely back onto the board to stop the thing constantly shutting off) it works fine. Except the L/mono Out socket seems to be faulty. I checked it out when I had the thing open and it seems to be secur...

just for cheap thrills and chills, why not try an Alesis SmashUp. The first few compressor settings wont do much for you, but the Pump setting should take you a little ways to where you want. otherwise, I would simply layer on thicker/heavier/deeper bass drums here an there, recording in real time....

I would suggest that anyone interested in any of the ASB boxes have a thorough look around these forums: http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=35 Great-sounding though they are (I have a strong love/hate relationship with my Minimax), the ASB's still have significant bugs. And Creamware/Soni...

Are you using the correct power supply? I ask because I wasn't at first, with my CZ-1000. The CZ's take a Casio AD-5 type power supply, which looks very similar and is almost the same size as the common all-purpose power adapters that you get at Radio Shack or wherever. The CZ's will work off of a s...

Excellent, I'll add synth amplification to my list of things to buy when money/space permit. Although I'm always going back and forth on whether or not I want to go down the road of investing a lot in recording gear (as opposed to actual sound-making music gear). On one hand it's good to learn and i...

It'd be cool if someone put this out as a complete kit (now that my dreams of putting together an x0xb0x have been officially dashed). I've done a few soldering projects, but I don't know if my DIY skills are up to creating PCB's and cobbling together some kind of open-source MIDI control/sequencer....

Does anyone run their synths into amps and mic the amps to record? Or is this totally pointless? I just find that frequently synths sound a little too front-and-center (when I record them anyway; I'm very new to the home-recording game) compared to other stuff like guitar. I don't know if this is du...

It's so hard to tell what will be thought of as a classic. Things that are revered now...Sequential 6 track, Sequential Max Revered?! By whom? The Prophet 5/10, the Pro One, and the VS could certainly qualify as revered (but as far as I know, they did pretty well when they were new), and the Prophe...
