Think about it like this. I don't know what synths you have, but how about this for an example. I have Juno 106. It has 128 memory space, but only one ADSR and otherwise generally limited programming. I don't think many people would argue that this is a bad sounding synth though. You can only make ...

Theres no such a thing like 'good preset'. There might be 'this-might-get-me-somewhere-with-some-serious-editing' -preset (god, i hate that 'preset' word). You always have to (thank god!) do some sound designing to blend sounds in the song. Even better, do your own sounds and your songs will sound ...

You do know EH makes stuff under $70 right? Anyway, ebay is cool for finding cheap effects. Keep it generic...like chorus pedal or distortion pedal and tons of cheapies come up. Yeah, I know EH makes cheaper stuff. Plus some of it is quite cheap used. I recently traded a russian big muff for an ale...

For a beginner, the K-station is all knobs. When I was a noob I found the menu system of the microkorg very hard to deal with. Although, the microkorg has a few more features the K-station still has a few things it doesn't. I prefer the microkorg sound, but the K-station programmability. They both h...

Favorite cheap effects for synth.
We all know the Moog and EH effects are great, but what about the stuff anybody could get? I'm thinking aroudn the $70 and under set. I have a Washburn WSR-42 distortion that is perfect for my MG-1 and an Ibanez CF-7 which is great for everything. I used to have a DE-7, but it died right about the t...

$80 keytar that runs on batteries, has midi AND usb, and isn't way too long. [picture of Oxygen 8 with side-pegs modification] The point of keytar design is that you have controls like pitch bend, moduation, and various controller buttons on the 'handle' end of the device, making it more like playi...
