Re: DSI Mopho and Evolver: Do I need both?

all the advice you've received is good, wise, and well considered. *personally*, i'd sell the mopho once the evo came in and use the evo as a swiss-army synth. this is based on owning the evo desktop for i guess 2 yrs. + now, and having screwed around with a friend's mopho for about an hour. *to me*...

Re: favorite instrument combinations

i love layering and it's usually a spur of the moment type thing, but one combo i go to repeatedly is aj2->jv1010 strings...that sweet-tooth roland filter playing some filter-swept whooshes with noise behind strings makes for some lovely nigel godrich-esque sounds.

Re: The Responsible Synthesist

best mini digital recorder for my needs?

hi all--so i need to buy a hand-held digital recorder asap for interview work (spoken word) i need to do for a book. i have also wanted, for some time now, to get a hand-held digital recorder for quickly recording (sung) melodic ideas, and--more importantly--recording field noises for sampling. not ...

Re: What is the Oldest Piece of Gear in Your Studio?

my oldest synth is a crumar performer, ca. 1979...followed by my juno 6 and prophet 600, both ca. 1982. oldest piece in my studio, period, is my 1964 blackface fender champ. mmmmmm...old.

something old, something new...

something borrowed, something blue. myspace.com/codegreenstudio repaired some broken links on my myspace page and took advantage of their new 10-song policy to upload a few tunes i haven't had up there before. check out, e.g., "sont-ils pret" and "missing string," which feature a jv-1010 patch throu...

Re: moogerfooger question

i own the ring mod, the delay (104z--the reissue), and the murf. they're great pedals, but i got them all as gifts (requested ones). so obviously i wanted them but not sure they would've made it to the top of the priority list for my limited resources if i'd had to buy them myself, and not sure, hav...
