the six-trak is great for lots of stuff...the filter is real nice and more suitable for snappier bass sounds than the p600. it can excel at nasally tones and real pretty stuff too. a versatile and often overlooked little gem.

I'd be looking for an S3000XL or one of the later Yamaha or E-Mu ones, but make sure it's one with an internal HD fitted. You can do something like it with 16 levels -> pitch, but that's only 16 notes. Any hardware sampler can do what you want. MPCs are sampling drum machines rather than samplers really, check out the Akai S series, the E-Mu samplers or the Yamaha A series. thanks for the reply stab...yeah, was aware ...
