sporadic p600 pot/knob problem

ok, so while i'm singing the praises of the prophet 600 in another thread, i'm having some problems with my own: with seemingly no rhyme or reason, the knobs on my p600 sometimes become ineffectual--even the volume knob. when this happens, i've noticed that, when i call up a preset, the number appea...

dont judge a synth by reviews. Its a bad way to buy gear, just horrible. The p-600 is a good synth overall, just not tweaker friendly. i dunno--as a p600 owner, i know what you mean...but i also think one unfamiliar with the synth could take that statement too much to heart. i wouldn't say it's unf...

yeah, these are great-sounding synths and, imo, the BEST bargain in the vintage poly market. 2vcos!!! a BIG sounding synth.

not quite the thing if you're looking for a bass machine, but nothing to turn up one's nose at otherwise.

haha, something told me the response would come from your direction tallow. well, thanks for the info. sounds like a guitar through a modular--very interesting about the one in ljubljana--and i do hear plenty of evidence of drum triggers, too, in their stuff. amazing band. glad someone else here dig...

great sounding synth (really nice filter) but not nearly as fun to use as the p600, as the menu-diving gets tedious. and yes, a 2nd osc. would be nice....i had mine as a loaner while my p600 was awaiting repair and admittedly didn't much delve into the sequencing options. but it seemed very versatile.

laibach's "the cross"

just heard this song for the first time in ages and was reminded how great it is...and found myself wondering whether anyone knows what's going on with the dominant synth sound--what synth it is, and whether it's a synth at all or rather a guitar run, e.g., through a modular? sorry for another "what...

nick cave, performing with the bad seeds, brought a casio front and center to play "brompton oratory" a few years back (thus prompting my friend to yell "PLAY THAT CASIO NICK!!!" at the top of his lungs. which was hilarious, but annoying considering it's one of my favorite cave songs).

yeah james, thanks much for the samples--was very excited to hear some more sides of this synth. (i also like the p600 sample, but then again it's the synth i'm spending the most time with these days). much appreciated, eric edit: more and more with your samples, the overall sonic character of the p...

without meaning to discount the importance of other parts, i would say the filters are most important.

my reasoning is: a good filter has the capacity to make any sound interesting.

obviously, though, it's the interaction of quality components that makes a killer synth.

use my murf on vocals a bunch...and run a lot of stuff--especially my mpc--through the filters on my d-evo. i wish more of my synths had the ability to run external sources thru the filters.
