Re: Please recommend me a cheap midi controller/synthesizer
Yeah, if I can get it at a decent price, that would be great. It looks and sounds amazing, but the menu diving scares me away a little. But guess what? I bought an ESQ-1, for $125 with shipping included and 2 cartridges! Wow. Nice score for me! Only problem is, replacing that damn battery. I don't ...

Sealed Deep Synthesis is down
Looks like Sealed's excellent website is no longer functioning and frankly I'm bummed out about it. The info he managed to dig up on forgotten digital relics was extremely useful. I always appreciated his patch examples more than the material produced by more popular demo'ers.

akai s2000 harddrive woes
I just picked up a 1gig harddrive for the akai s2000 from mpcstuff's ebay store and low and behold I can't get the f**k thing to work. I never had any trouble getting my scsi for samplers cf card reader functioning.... Anyhow I've got the scsi ID number matching, but I'm wondering if I'm supposed to...

I'm glad the experts are on the case. How many of them make beats or want to sound like muse?meatballfulton wrote:There's a lengthy thread already over at Harmony Central forums where someone bought one and returned it immediately. Worth a read I suppose.

Re: Best Linux software for synth nerds and producers?
I've been able to run defective records cylcic under wine, using a maudio uno with no issues what so ever. Such an awesome piece of software to pair with hardware synths.

Re: Whatever happened to knobby VA's?
Despite liking the nord modular series, I'd like to see more vst's with dedicated hardware interfaces than hardware synths with dedicated software editors. Also after having tried out quite a few va's, I still think nord's sound better than the rest. In short let them stay on top and I hope their su...

Re: New Synth Build Quality
it's always a trade off though. in eurorack, it's a mix - there are some who build them flimsy and some who build them like tanks (Pittsburgh Modular). but it's all relative, since features and sound are more important. I can attest that cheaper manufacturers like doepfer and analog solutions bolt ...

Re: ever use only one synth for a full song? (Solvent)
I guess modulars are great for people who would rather build a sound from scratch than from a preset, who have the time/patience to RTFM and who want to make music with monosynths. Even if you're not one of those people it's still great for your workflow to just concentrate on one or two synths, as...

Re: ever use only one synth for a full song? (Solvent)
These days, I am quite obsessed with this idea; selleing everything I have (xt, z1, sh-101, sh-1000, minikorg, micromoog, jx-3p, pedals and various instruments...) for one small but very powerful modular synth (serge animoo + sequencer). Having such a powerful sound generator that could hold on a s...

Re: ever use only one synth for a full song? (Solvent)
I've tried the minimal setup/one synth thing several times, first with a nord modular g1, and later with a virus c. Sadly it never worked for me. I much rather have several small cheap synths than one pricey one. I can imagine getting by with just a command station, alesis micron, or any synth with ...

Re: Wave indexing on the emu command stations
 : I didn´t understand clearly what´s your problem. SLOOP) (wave loop) destination doesn´t sound good on all the cases, sometimes it depends of the sample you are modulating. SSart (sample start) is not realtime, notes must be retriggered in order to move backwards or forward across the wave...
