Voice Stealing
I was playing my Andromeda today and could not help but notice that in unison it was sounding a tad bit thinner than usual. I went into global mode and had a look at the voice display and 2 were turned off. It turns out this was due to something called voice stealing which switches off voices when y...

have fun with the SH-09; it's got a better sound than the 101 imho. creamy! Yeah i definatly agree with shaft9000, the SH-09 sounds much nicer than the SH-101. I have played both side-by-side and the SH-09 sounds really phat and warm while the SH-101 is more thin and squelchy. I miss my SH-09 so mu...

 I agree with Sir Ruff; actually they really do !! You have to take their temper too, but I couldn't live anymore without my analogs... Me too, unfortunatly... there's a life in analogs :) Even my brand new Andromeda dos'nt behave itself at times, especially at gigs with tons of stage lightin...

are the two synths really similar? Isn't one based on Curtis technology and the other just hard-wired circuitry? I know they're related for both being analog, both sounding 8 notes at maximum, both having gorgeous multicolored controllers and both being produced in Japan. Do any of you think the si...

My old Roland Promars was previously owned by Alan Wilder and used in Depeche Mode in early 1982. You must be bloody jocking... No. I bought it off ebay about 3 years ago for £250 and the owner did not even shout its pedigree out on the auction. The owner who had it before him bought it off...

Yeah id also reccomend a Juno for those nice 'vintage' sounds. Or, if you want something a little more complex thats still analogue, there is the JX series and the Poly-61/Poly800. I had a JUno-60 and a JX-3P at one point and both were fantastic synths. They were nice and reliable plus gave me that ...

I have played both these instruments, but not in the same room. The Jupiter is definatly what id use for mellow pads (just my opinion). The CS has a very clean and pure sound. They are both very good at pads but sound completely different. The CS has more unique tricks up its sleeve, stuff like ring...

Before i bought my Andromeda i was going to buy a Jupiter-8, but i thought about reliabillity and dependabillity and bought a brand new Andy. I have tried a few JP-8's and they have all had problems. In one case, it was working fine when it was warmed up but the keyboard scanning suddenly hit a snag...

yup.. waveterm's right - sh2 for the sequences on SAP ..and the arpeggio on rio is the jp4 where-as the arpeggio on hungry like the wolf was a jp8 The arpeggio on 'Hungary like the wolf' was also the Jupter-4. The 'Rio' arpeggio sound is actually one if the 10 presets, the Bass one. You can also he...

I had a CS-10 last year and loved it. Its hands down one of the niceist synths for bass. As compared to? CS-40M, Juno range, Jupiter-4, MS-10, Mono/Poly etc. Im not saying its 'better' than these at bass, im just saying its one of the best. Id say it was as good as my SH-09 for bass, not ...
