The Casio VL-Tone is a great bass synth. I used it in my band today and put it through a flanger, delay and chorus unit. The sound was just stunning. For such a tiny little unit, it has a HUGE sound.

It can split. Not only that, you can mix the volume of each part (!) at both ends of the keyboard. This version HAS bass.

Wow that sounds really nice. The brass sounds lovely with that delay effect.

The first real synth sound i made was an early Depeche Mode lead on my Roland Promars. I think it was off 'See You'.

I did not find the CS-30 to be too thin. Its a great synth. What i love about the 40m is the 2 shine wave sub-oscillators.
