well, my current keys that this would be replacing are an AN1X and a M-Audio Ozonic, and I should hope the semi-weighted keys feel better than the keys on those...

How is the aftertouch? Nice and smooth and deep, or somewhat in the "on/off" category.

Wow. I found a local store near me that can get an SL 61 in for 560 cdn, so its actually cheaper for me to get it here than order from the states, where I can get it for 550 USD + shipping... Most canadian online stores are still charging 700 dollars for them. Go musicstop. Now that you've been boug...

how easy is it to assign controls to various knobs on a softsynth interface however you want them? because I'd most likely want to map out envelopes to the sliders, filters to the encoders, etc...

Huppo, if you bothered to actually read threads before posting in them you'd see that the specifics of analog modular vs minimoog was an analogy for the entire divide in synthesis between ease of use/quality of sound vs an expanded feature set and tonal complexity, which is what I was replying to. A...

Novation Remote SL... Worth the extra cost?

I'm really lusting after a remote SL 61... But is there really THAT huge of an advantage over something like an M-Audio Axiom or similar item that comes at a fraction of the cost? The Auto-Map looks great, and I love the idea of having an XY pad... And I hear great things about the key feel and afte...

I like to think I'm at a happy medium when I find a good balance between features and ease of use. Then again I love FM synths, so I guess that does kinda put me in the "modular" camp in this debate, as they aren't exactly as simple to program as a model D.

Software is where it's at when it comes to glitch/IDM/weird sampling IMO. I'd take a look at Guru by Fxpansion for an MPC replacement, and at Reaktor or MAX/MSP for ways to really glitch things out.

Alesis Micron.

I sold it when I got my Alesis Fusion... Now I don't have the Fusion anymore and kinda miss it... It's a nice little machine for leads and bells, and tiny, so it's perfect as a little synth in a band where your main job is vocals.

vember audio surge has per-oscillator unison that you can use for this effect... Even with PPG-style wavetable oscs, as well as the VA oscs.

Also, is there a difference in the actual pads between the MPD 16 and MPD 24? Yes, a huge difference...the MPD16's pads suck and the MPD24 is alot better...it is as simple as that. The MPD 24 is looking more appealing all the time, especcialy since upon further inspection I greatly overestimated ho...
