In my A-B-C-D-E tests between TimewARP, ARP 2600V, an ARP 2600P V3, an ARP 2601 V1, and an ARP 2601 V2, the TimewARP was closest to all of the hardware 2600s (but sounded most like the ARP 2601 V1).

Without the MPG80, it would be a difficult synth to fully appreciate. Did you happen to have the MPG as well?

Makes sense for older stuff, if anything to have spare parts, but then I know someone who has 2 Andromedas  his rationale? "good deals" (about $1,600 each, used 2002 models, plus his GC discount) that's overkill IMO  Klaus Schulze might argue with you... http://www.klaus-schulze.com/pic...

4 MKS-80s WD  That's nothing until he admits to having four programmers - one for each one! Then the shock value would be immensely higher! hEEhEE! I sold my mks-80 for a prophet 5. -d Nah, just one MPG80. The MPG80 allows controlling up to 16 MKS80s. I suppose that, given your equation, I c...

As to the four MKS80s... --one is a Rev 3 --two are Rev 4s --one is a Rev 5. The Rev 3 and 4 are nearly identical in architecture. There are some software differences, which also account for slight sound differences. The Rev 5 is different in both software and hardware and, therefore, sounds differe...

Re: Owning two of the same synthesizer - Is it wrong?
I have a Moog LP and I'm strongly considering buying another one for live performance. I only need two voices, and I can't find anything that sounds like it (I'd really prefer something smaller/cheaper) BTW, this thread boarders on a BUYER'S GUIDE topic because of this part of the inquiry. However,...

Cost of a show and questions of whether or not said show is worth the cost... is OFF TOPIC. Time to reconfigure gear to go from Oxygene setup to Equinoxe setup...is ON TOPIC. That said (and based upon your implied premise that Jarre's use of virtually identical gear on both Oxygene and Equinoxe), ra...

Yamaha CS-80. The polyphonic aftertouch take a lot of practice to master. WD P.S. The same is true of other polyphonic synths, such as those from Ensoniq, Roland, etc. But the keys of the CS-80 feel and, therefore, respond quite differently from the others. [The various synth-action keybeds pretty m...

Although there is certainly overlap between various synths in my studio, I have intentionally chosen instruments with their own character, which is really what I am after. When my studio was around a half-dozen synths, I would power it all at once, but, now that it has grown substantially from that ...
