Re: Help with E-Mu ESI 32 Sampler!

Cool, so it's working now? Great. Turbo board adds S/Pdif yes, and also effects. I liked the distortion, it's a diode clipper (model) and the delay was neat, you could change the delay time in real time (by going in to edit it, not assignable to a cc unfortunately) and it would glitch nicely. Probab...

Re: The Human League - Love Action intro

It's the BPF on a Yamaha CS-15 they have. A CS-10 can do it as well. A CS-5 can kinda do it but it's a bit hampered by having only one envelope.

Re: Bring Roland SH2000 back to life?

Hmm, thats strange. Ok, check if the vco board is working: - VCO Board check connector pin 2 , it should be 15V - VCO Board check connector pin 4, it should be -15V - VCO Board check 555 Ic pin 8 , it should be 15V - VCO Board check Q105 collector pin for pulse wave As you'll see from the blog, the...

Re: Bring Roland SH2000 back to life?

First off, read again carefully what Yekuku said. I think your PSU is definitely faulty as you don't have -15V. Recap it and check it again ideally with a scope so you can see what the ripple is like. I don't think there are any tantalums in this? Second, get the service manual. Is that the manual y...

Re: which synth modules?

Ok. Well The OB6 and the P6 are dripping in vibe. But personally I don't think it would be worth the trouble/ expense in a live situation. The differences would not be apparent.

Re: which synth modules?

Nice rig. All your synths are more than capable of doing sounds for songs by those bands you listed. Have you tried joining Facebook groups for those synths? Or you could just buy patch banks. I did a quick google for "access virus eighties patch bank" and this one looks good: https://www.ultimatexs...

Re: ID this synth?

Quite the opposite. It's an FM synth, so go for it. As Z already pointed out, FM synths are all pretty much the same. I just googled "korg volca fm synthesis tutorial" and came up with a few that look good. I'd suggest Mark Doty's one.

Here's his Facebook page, ask him! https://www.facebook.com/JoyOrbisonLDN/
There's a photo on his FB page with a DX200, which could be what he used, especially since it has some knobs for live tweaking.
That's a pic Roman Flugel in his studio though. Check out the caption on the photo.

Re: ID this synth?

Could be simple FM on an analogue synth.

Just look up how to do FM! This is a sound you'd get very quickly.

Re: Help connecting a Roland D5 to Garageband

Factory patches with instructions download from Roland: https://www.roland.com/us/support/by_product/all/general_apps_tools/eac42271-4aef-4eed-ab46-d6b6ee6df208/ Ignore "Cakewalk". Use this to load them in: https://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/ Hopefully that fixes it for you. However, these synths...

Re: Help with E-Mu ESI 32 Sampler!

Get a multimeter and test the continuity of the connectors. You can see from these pictures which way around the connector is supposed to go:

My guess is they've been messed with because the Turbo board was removed from yours?

Re: Reading Patch Notes

There are no conventions. I would've said no marking means set slider to minimum (because there are no middle=0 sliders on the 2600) but he's marked VCA Ring Mod and ADSR in as minimum so that could well be wrong. But I think it's most likely he's probably being inconsistent. Try the unmarked ones a...
