It's the BPF on a Yamaha CS-15 they have. A CS-10 can do it as well. A CS-5 can kinda do it but it's a bit hampered by having only one envelope.

Quite the opposite. It's an FM synth, so go for it. As Z already pointed out, FM synths are all pretty much the same. I just googled "korg volca fm synthesis tutorial" and came up with a few that look good. I'd suggest Mark Doty's one.
