Re: Downsizing (which synths can I sell?)
Thanks! You're welcome. Sorry, I was imagining only what I would do with all that gear. To me an 808 is not a useful instrument it's $$$, same with all your Roland synths... so I'd probably only need 8 inputs if I was in your shoes . I am not trying to upset or criticise here. 808s are that pri...

Re: Can't get Roland XP-80 and Reaper to play nice via MIDI
OK, was all of that data was sent from the XP-80? I suspect it was? I think you already suspect what the problem is though! Without a way of testing the MIDI out, I would definitely try a different MIDI-USB cable, from a known good brand like Alesis or Roland. It could also be the actual MIDI in soc...

Re: Downsizing (which synths can I sell?)
This is mine, in its own room (except now the Casio FZ-1 is where the Casio CT-430 was).I kept some hardware that I really like (Kaoss pads, OB Cyclone, Quadraverb), or is not worth the trouble of selling (Exciter, Yamaha MLA7 mic pre). The Novation KSR is a synth I really like, plus it's a great co...

Looks like it's an organ, not a synth.

Re: Can't get Roland XP-80 and Reaper to play nice via MIDI
1. Can you confirm whether or not MIDI is received with a different hardware MIDI synth?
2. What's a "Viewcon..."?
3. Why is it sending more than one Bank Select Message?
4. Can you post the MIDI file from Reaper?
5. Or post a screen grab of what's at the very start of the Event List?

Ah, my mistake. Andrew's bank is called "Master RAM" not Powerplay- that was the name of his book.

Re: Vintage synths, are they really worth it?
Agree with all of the above. Here are modern alternatives that will get you the same sound, or arguably better: Roland Cloud JX-3P. Identical sound. Arguably a better user interface. Roland System 8 with JX3P plugout. You get a beautiful keyboard with a fabulous user interface. And the System 8 in i...

Re: Balanced outputs - how to find out?
AudioXPress magazine has an article this month about capacitor testing, by Ethan Winer. Free sub here: https://simplecirc.com/subscribe/sample-magazines?source=AX&fbclid=IwAR1zU1Bp9GPQlc0JKG_iOJDwkUre1tBcXRMKMxSzOVUZcU-NlcTnbESp_8g He also tested the Behringer unit you have. It has a distortion prof...

Re: Casio VZ, there's only one bank of sounds missing from the entire web!
Ya I think it's been like this forever. I have one here called "RC140B1" but that probably stands for "RC-140 Bank 1". Try it anyway: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0wvzuyj9c4l6035/RC140B1.SYX.zip?dl=0 If it's any consolation, Andrew Schlesinger's Powerplay VZ bank is vastly superior to any of the others...

Re: Downsizing (which synths can I sell?)
I've just tried to upload (attachements) photos of my setup, but get error messages saying they're too large. That's despite making them less than 500 KB each, so I'm not sure what the forum requirements are -anyone know? Dunno, I gave up on it. I just post a dropbox link. Do we really need a TX16W...
