Eggbox myth

Blankets?? Egg boxes?? Let me quote this advice again: Like I said, make it airtight and put mass in there. Blankets and egg boxes have negligible mass, i.e. they are too lightweight. They will have a limited effect on the sound of the room (i.e. acoustics) but no worthwhile effect on sound proofing.

Good buy analogcrazy. How did you move your patches to the new machine? Are you gonna sell the CZ1000 now? It does sound better than a CZ1000 or 101, and the sequencer is cool. The chorus has its uses. It's annoying that the cartridge sounds have to be loaded into internal memory, you can't use the ...

Emu Vintage keys, and any Roland with the vintage sounds will do a decent job, you'll get close to the character. To get it exactly right though, you need a sampler.

If you don't already have it, get the user manual, it's very well written and will give you all the tips you'll need. It's still available on Emu's website.

Ya you're right, I found an interview, that's exactly what he did. Mad.

When I set the picth bender on the DJX to go up and down a semitone like on the AZ-1, the pitch on the AZ-1 drops a little bit. Look, you're describing it in a very confusing manner. I don't understand what you're saying here. Please, think of it this way: the AZ-1 has no pitch. What it does is tel...

You mean the AZ-1 is sending MIDI notes that are a semitone up? It can't be out of tune since it doesn't generate sounds, only MIDI messages. If you could analyse what it was trasnmitting that would help, but it appears to me to be a fault with the pitch bender. It might have become unstuck in trans...

Really? I thought the UMI was a complete sequencer on its own, with CV outputs. I thought the only way to program an MC4 was by typing in the data. So you're saying they used the UMI as an MC4 editor, in a way?

No comparison. It's almost ridiculous! But here's what I think. The Evolver is a superior instrument reperesnting great value for money and sonic innovation. The CS-5 is quality but overpriced for what you're quoted. This is from someone who owns a CS-10 and a CS-5 and will never part with them. The...

LFO, the Sheffield group, early Warp signees, used one of these a lot. Nice sounds, but nothing you couldn't do with Waldorf Attack.

Before you spend more money-
1. What synth are you using?
2. The pitch bend: are you saying it does not "reset" to concert pitch when you use it, or are you have trouble setting the pitch bend interval on your synth?

The point I guess is that there are different qualities to all the Mellotron samples out there. Some are cleaner, some are dirtier, some bear little resemblance to the real thing. That's a great point. I agree with you. I have a whole selection of Mellotron samples from different sources, each with...

...M-Tron, which was sampled from a mic recording of the internal speaker from a Mellotron. Where did you get that information from? It certainly does not sound that way. Some of the tapes are rough, and that's part of the charm. But it definitely sounds like a DI recording. The Mellotrons speaker ...
