No no, this really deserves its own thread... people have been vapidly whining about Roland for years; now they've finally given us something to really sink our teeth into!Stab Frenzy wrote:Hey guys, all this whining should really be in my thread of broken dreams.

Re: Moog Sub 37, finaly a new poliphonic Moog?
BTW Odyssey was weird. Hold one note, both VCOs play that note, hold two each gets one VCO. Can sound pretty odd... It's been 30 years since i sold it but I believe the Cat SRM behaved the same way. yes, all the Cats work that way... I'd the most interesting application will be when the oscillators...

Pretty much nothing... Based on current knowledge of this new thing, the ER-1 still looks more innovativemute wrote:If it's just a simple V/a drum machine, geared towards live use, what separates it from late 1990's stuff like the Korg ER-1?

Re: vintage Oberheim SEM
that's a good point - i have been going on word of mouth that the old one has some edge over the new one sonically Arguably, it does, but even the vintage slut side of me can't convince me that the new one is not a better all-round buy for multiple reasons. And it's not like we're talking minimoog ...

Re: CS-50 and JP-6 in Chicago
Apparently he's not actually in Chicago (I would also argue that that's an average price for the Jup given it has issues, and pretty mediocre for the CS.)Walter Ego wrote:Doubt if these will last long--good prices...

Re: vintage Oberheim SEM
Have you been able to compare them side by side? I acknowledge that there is a difference, but it's pretty subtle. I can't see going through the effort of trying to fit an old one into a case (unless you got it for a great price) when you can get fully CV-ed, midi'd new ones for <$800.

Re: DSI Prophet 12 Module
Just to be clear, there are three waveform slots, not two... I'm not sure if that's per voice, or per oscillator... If the latter, it seems like some VS-like pads should be possible.

Re: DSI Prophet 12 Module
Okay, so its basically a new-school ESQ-m/VS/Wavestation digital-analog hybrid without the limitations of those old-school synths. I really wish that was the case (and I'd love for someone to prove that the P12 could cover the majority of the sounds on those synths)! I think this biggest limitation...

Re: DSI Prophet 12 Module
I dont see how they relate at all. The SQ80 doesn't have wavetables, it just has 99 digital waveforms on each oscillator... digital sampled waveforms = wavetables not being able to interpolate between different waveforms doesn't mean they still aren't wavetables. And so yes it's true that an sq80 i...
