no, really. tell this to the BBC radiophonic personel. I think this bit of perspective is necessary. What the BBC folks were doing with yards (or meters) and yards of analogue tape was immediately made obsolete once easy to use samplers came along. days and days of calculating note lengths and pitc...

but basically progressing technology will always make music creation easier. Does it make it easier to make s**t? of course, but then the real creative people will always succeed. So inversely, by going back to old technology and making it "new" people are creating their creative little niches .. (...

doesnt matter what you use, its what you do with it that counts. If it doesn't matter what you use, then perhaps everyone here at VSE is being foolish. Functionality and sound are no longer relevant, people! Cheap Casio knock-offs for everyone! The cruel and oppressive dictatorship of high-end equi...

bought a rocktek delay pedal from Sir Ruff. He was wonderful, touched my heart how much he was willing to be good ;) Gosh. I hadn't realized I had that effect (pedal... oh!) ha! Anyways, darou_jocelyn was quick with the communication, and fast in payment. Considering the logistics, it worked out sw...

I *just* got a Nord Modular G2 from Guitar Center - an obscenely low Black Friday price which I probably shouldn't mention... :) oh come on. don't pull a "we can't tell you cos it's so low". how much was it? :D $640. It was the floor model, but hardly anyone seemed to have touched it and it still h...

Its not all gimmicky computer music you know! If this place is just full of old people after the one synth that does it all and trying to emulate that "Jump" sound and the like, then I'll stop my browsing of this forum now! Rant over haha ouch... now you had to go and bring up "jump" didn't you? [O...

for $1500 you can get the Mattson Mini-Modular w/ 12 modules. Seems like a great way to get into that w/out being limited/hardwired. Obviously it's brand-new so no reviews yet. You might want to wait a little though before taking the plunge I've seen a redsquare mkI on the 'bay recently go for a me...

It's punk rock all over again. Again. Naw. its just f**k nosie for weans. Punk rock, even through the 80% shite, still had a purpose or even just enthusiasm for actually being able to play. these f**k things just remind me of old days when it was raining and i couldn't get outside to feel girls tit...

Is progress using old things in a new way? I guess that's kind of what techno was about... But I can't see this ever leaving its niche market as JS said. Unfortunately, chip tunes always sound like..... chip tunes. To appreciate it, you really have to like that sound! I love using LSDJ and synthcart...

doh... I already figured it out: Manheim Steamroller - Deck the halls Now where's Micke to tell us what synths they used? For simplicity, I'm guessing some Obie brass and a mini for the lead. it's such an awful song, but I guess that's why I love it. If anyone wants to see an atrocious light and son...
