Condescend much?
Yes, all the time. But I'm taking AG's words to imply that, for the non-ultra-anal sonic trainspotter (ahem), the new MS-20 will do the job.

The Poly-800 page on VSF says he owns 4,539 Poly-800s.

EDIT: 3 of those are mkiis with the ultra-rare reversed, reverse keys.

Re: Korg Mini MS-20

Monotribe has a trigger conversion option, if you already own one. But is there any information on build quality? Is the case metal or plastic? I've read a couple harsh reviews about the build, for example: http://fluxwithit.com/2013/01/28/korg-mini-ms-20-tweaking-and-testing/. Taking it with a gra...

I have no gear, just inspiration.

My brain is kind of like the original analog workstation.

Re: Roland TR-707 vs. SCI TOM

Ask Sequentialofshock--he's sourced new ones that I think only need a little tweaking.

And actually, there's a guy on ebay who's making (made?) new carts with custom sounds for the TOM. So rare carts aren't really an issue. His standard one as 808/909/DX sounds.

Re: DSI announces Prophet 12!

But then it becomes wavetable synthesis, which is a whole different engine. I highly doubt they're going head to head with Waldorf's wavetable synths. It already has wavetable synthesis. The demos clearly show smooth transitioning between wavetables. I'm not expecting 100 wavetables or whatever, bu...

Re: Roland TR-707 vs. SCI TOM

The TOM is rad, but I don't think it's worth more than $100. I got both mine for $19 & $24 then resold them with new PSU's. I think you'd be better off with an MPC & Tom samples. I don't think subjective "worth" was the OP's question; TOM is definitely one of the more underpriced vintage drum machi...

Re: DSI announces Prophet 12!

I'm just really hoping they up the wavetable count. Being able to scan through smoothly them was sorely missed on the PEK, so if they are gonna do that here, I hope they at least give a healthy number of waves to work with (not just 4, or whatever it is stated as now). This of all things should be e...

Re: Roland TR-707 vs. SCI TOM

AFAIK, the Drumtraks and TOM sounds are really similar, if not almost identical. Even if not, the programming on the TOM is leaps and bounds more advanced than the DT, so if that's your concern with the 707, I would def go for the TOM. It also has midi AND clock in/out with variable clock speed, so ...

They're not; apparently they're not even DCOs, but processer-based. Fine by me as long as they've got more than the usual waveforms in there.

This thing looks superhot, and the demos are already sounding good to me--seems to cover analog, and more importantly, interesting digital sounds. I will definitely be looking forward to getting the full specs.

Re: Roland MKS-50 vs MKS-70

The mks-50/alpha-junos on the other hand I always thought sounded thin and plastic-y. Bass monsters they are not. The jx-8/10/mks-70 have a far broader sound palette overall. Depends on what you like. Each provides their own character. The Alpha Junos do indeed thin out too much with increasing res...
