Re: Re-capping an OB-8

I usually fix the problem before i recap a synth, However recapping the power supply might help .. Try that first.. That was my first thought. The problem with the tuning is I lose voices. Sometimes I will lose all the voices. It all seems to be temp-regulated. I had the problem with the lost voice...

Re-capping an OB-8

I've been interested for a while in re-capping my OB-8. I have a late model B5 with factory MIDI. Has anyone here done one and like to share the experience? Was it a pain to de-solder the original components? PCB pretty sturdy or will I have to worry about damaging anything, etc? I have good solderi...

Have a Micromoog with a tuning problem

Aside from just doing a general calibration on it, is there any known reason why the tune knob decides to one day not even function? It's as if the entire keyboard range has drifted up a note and I can't use the tune knob. I have had similar issues in the past and haven't done anything to it aside f...

OB-8 losing most voices after warming up

I have a feeling I'm going to be told to re-cap the OB, but.. I'm having an issue where it pretty much won't tune any of the voices after the unit has been warmed up for a while. I already have one voice that won't tune and I just disable it, but once I started having this problem I started thinking...

Re: Analog drum machines / rhythm boxes...

Thanks for the replies, guys. I think after doing some more demoing and listening I may end up going with an Ace Tone FR-3 when one comes around for a good price. It reminds me a lot of what I hear on Brian Eno's Another Green World (could very well be one) and sounds very cool through effects. The ...

Best way to link up a LinnDrum and OB-8?

What is the best way to set up the OB-8 and LinnDrum so that the OB arpeggiator is driving the Linn? I'm having trouble making it work for some reason.

Analog drum machines / rhythm boxes...

I want to get an old analog rhythm box; something basic, cheap, with presets. I've been doing my research and finding some really cool stuff, but the problem is I don't know what I should really be paying for one, depending on what it is. I see a lot of what would be considered "junk" at one point, ...

Re: Halloween 1978; backing tempo beat?

You were correct. From the man himself: "The ticking sound was a combination of one Moog sequencer (with slight differences in the control voltage outputs--you can hear slight differences in pitch as the ticking continues, but it does not reoccur every 8, 16, or 24, by virtue of foldback triggering)...

Halloween 1978; backing tempo beat?

Anyone know what was used as the tempo/metronome/beat behind the main theme for Halloween? Always been curious if it was just a super-speed metronome or something else...

Re: Prophet 600 - freezing, no audio output?

You know what, I traced it to the mod wheel circuit... weird. When I unplugged the cable to the control board everything worked fine. I ended up cleaning every pot including the wheels and everything is back to normal... Actually I'm really glad it wasn't the DAC.. Reloading the patches worked just ...

Prophet 600 - freezing, no audio output?

I'm looking at a P600 at the moment that worked the first time I powered it up on what sounded like preset 0.0, but nothing else would sound. Turning the preset switch off I got a raw oscillator but none of the knobs worked, including the volume level. When I turned it off and back on, I got nothing...

Re: Should I buy this Wurlitzer?

Is it a 200 or a 200a? Honestly, $800 is a lot of money for one of these if it's got issues. 3 keys not working can be anything from mechanical to pickup problems. They're not that hard to work on, they just require a lot more removal of components to get to stuff unlike the Rhodes which is pretty m...

Re: LinnDrum - button issue

You know what, I take back what I said... batteries do need to be replaced. Not sure if its better to just replace the set with a battery holder... But aside from that which really is just that my patterns don't save in memory, everything else works like it's intended to.

LinnDrum - button issue

I'll try to explain this correctly... So you'll be playing the Linn, setting a pattern or whatever, and then at random other sounds that are not in your pattern will pop in here and there, almost like buttons are stuck down. It happens during playback also; have this nice groove going and then a tom...
