s**t I'm even lazier than everyone else on here. "Track 1= Drum Machine" If I'm using my electribe, that means all of the drums, bass, and usually some synth on one track. This means that I edit the f**k out of the sequence before I record it. Make sure all levels are perfect. Then when i record. I...

. We acquired a KORG microX for our studio here, and it comes with a custom hard shell electric ORANGE case that would fit well on a CAT bulldozer rig, or in the background of an episode of Tool Time. I tried to get the custom case for the microKorg from KORG, but it has been sold out for almo...

. The "Witching Hour" LP was a step aside compared to "604" as well as "Light and Magic" . . . New songs like "Sugar" and "Destroy Everything You Touch" are good, but the incorporation of straight guitar and drums and conventional club beats leads my ears to say: "I have heard this before" -- wherea...

Re: New synth tutorial series

So I'm starting a synth tutorial series - the first one shows how you can turn an MS2000 into a drum machine, but you can still play 2 melodic parts over it. Most of the info is relevant to any synth with good patching ability: http://insidesynthesis.blogspot.com/ Feedback wanted! I have no idea if...

I have heard that they, within the past few years, switched the MS-20s out live and replaced them with Korg MS-2000s and Microkorgs due to their availability and reliability on the road. Here's the article where I read that: http://remixmag.com/mag/remix_grace_notes/ Has a kit list as well. . Great...

. I play my Electribe EA-1 mkII like a monosynth. This synth is primariliy a two-part synth sequencer, yet one can play it as a monosynth using the 16 step keys. The sound engine was derived from the monophonic KORG Prophecy, so there you go. I find the monophonic synth is the go-to instrument when ...

Ladytron (& Electribes?)

. The sounds, sequences, and songs of Ladytron have really grabbed me over the past year. I was late to discover the band, but now it's right up there with the old guard like Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Porcupine Tree, and other bands that play keysynths manually, and live. The band is . . . an actua...

I am a huge tribe fan. Will never get rid of them..... ever! If you approach them with making an entire track in mind, you will be disapointed... big time! The secret is to use them as effects only and very sparringly in the background. They provide all the bleeps and farts in my music. They never ...

. I carry my mK around town in its little Gator bag and people sometimes stop and ask me: "That one's a little longer than average. What kind of a laptop is that?" Metrosexuals and hipster chicks especially coo "Oooooh!" when I unzip, show them, and reply: "GEAR!" :) The mK is, to me, a keysynth pla...

. Hi. I had a blast last night with my KORG EA-1 mkII, filtering beats from my ZOOM MRT-3B through the "Audio In" and also synched up to same and my KORG microKorg whilst playing organ comp on my CASIO MT-70. With the new Kaossilator and Blofield and microVirus, so forth, it seems that dedicated tab...

. Hi. Happy to report we got it working last night. I found, online, a download called MIDI Pipe that allowed us to scan the note number range on a keyboard grid and then stretch and assign the pads to ReDrum tracks. In addition, we now have the Yamaha DTXplorer slaved as a controller for all of Rea...

The Killers "Smile Like You Mean It" features mK patch A28.

To be fair, Brandon Flowers tweaked that patch; he switched the octave button up an octave from the original setting!
