Re: Old jomox machines vs new

the 888 eats the xbase-09 and airbase for dinner. There is absolutely no way the old ones sound better, 888 is the best of the line IMO and has sampling... a better more flexible kick drum with an extra pitch envelope, metalized noise etc. xbase-09 is the worst one, i kinda of like the airbase but t...

Re: Acidlab Miami - Review

YAY for the proper demos.

I'm pretty much set on selling my 808 to get a miami I just have to have the shuffle and then I could ditch the cr-8000 too....

looks like the miami is like $1150 US dollars without shipping, paypal fees, customs.

Re: Acidlab Miami - Review

thanks for the nice read :D I've really wanted one of these because of the shuffle settings, but it's hard to ditch my real 808 knowing the sounds aren't quite as good. Interesting point about the toms/congas from the demos I've heard I actually like the Miami's better, too bad about the clap from t...

Re: Which Synths are Good For Making Percussion Sounds?

I'm confused because I've owned the system 100 and it had slow envelopes, way slower than the sh2 or sh09 I thought. Snappy envelopes are the key to most percussive sounds though honestly the best are the ones dedicated to analog percussion like the synare, synncussion and other drum modules or anal...

Re: Prophet 5 to Prophet 600 Comparison?

DUDE THERE IS HELLA STEPPING ON THE PROPHET 5 TOO... :D Seriously there is plenty of filter stepping on the p5, yes there is a bit on the p600 but I don't know why people don't mention the super obvious stepping in the p5 filter there is a ton! So don't let stepping be the reason you judge a synth. ...

Re: Problems with buyer who bought my synth

if it was outside ebay then he has no protection, unless he used a credit card and can do a chargeback. you did everything you could to prove the synth was working, though if you did a poor packing job that wouldn't be his fault... So I wouldn't worry about it, just see what happens and don't accept...

what do you mean, the main improvement is the ability to devalue the Ti then repackage and sell the same thing for more money.

Re: FR XS vs. Korg MS-20

xs is too modern sounding for me, it's gritty but overall just middle of the road character. I found that it's character and tone is what turned me off the most. like the filters are good but just don't have a very original character/flavor just kind of a normal moogy filter that is ok. I loved that...
