Justice = Juno 106 + Distortion pedal.
They use some other stuff but that's the basis of their sound.

I think that's what I like about the V-synth that it seems to be designed as more a performance instrument. Still have to look into the P2500 a bit more. I'm probably talking to myself aren't I? The V-Synth is the best keyboard for performance I've ever used, it's really well laid out with left han...

Mix engine aside, Live is a million times better than cubase IMO. As far as a good limiter for cheap, I can't really help you. You can get decent results from compressor II with a high ratio, just try to have your limiter in the chain before any gentle compression. If you limit out the big peaks bef...

Keep you master fader at unity (0dB) all the time, if you pull it down to stop clips you're probably clipping further back in the signal path. It might not be going into the red, but it'll sound different. I'm guessing you're metering post-fade for playback but pre-fade for recording, that would exp...

Thanks for the info so far guys, I'm leaning more and more towards the MPD24 but nowhere here has them in stock, so I've gotta wait til someone gets one in to try it out. I'd think about a monome but I need something for playing drums at the moment and that's not it's strongest point, good idea thou...

You mean "analogue tape warmth"Architecture wrote:The only thing I think I need to do is calibrate the bias on the machine, since all of my recordings don't seem to do well in the high's, but they all have plenty of bass added to them.
Anyway, congrats, how you get a lot of use out of it.

Re: what's your secret weapon?
i have been doing a lot of mixing lately and really scrutinizing my recordings and one thing i have noticed is that everything i do has a certain thick, sludgy quality to it. it got me wondering where exactly this sound comes from and i think it's a combination of the electribes and the extensive p...

I've heard a lot of bad things about the reliability of Mackie as well, but I take them all with a grain of salt. I don't think the Mackie is a big step up from the Yammie, and I'd rather have a new mixer with a warranty than a second-hand one. I've used a few yamaha desks in live venues that have b...

Pad controller experiences?
I've just sold my MPC and I'm looking at picking up a pad controller for my laptop to replace it. At the moment I'm looking at either the Akai MPD24 or M-Audio Trigger Finger, or possibly the Korg PadKontrol. Anyone got any experiences with any of these units? I'm not looking for obvious stuff that ...
