Just wanted to stress the importance of getting the acoustics right in the room. Most people don't get to record in great sounding rooms but I've had awesome results from deadening the cupboard under the stairs with matresses, cushions and doonas (/duvets/quilts, insert local term here) and recordin...

Yeah it depends what program you're using though. With some you get the tempo 0.01bpm out (ie looks fine even if you zoom in) and your samples start drifting out of time before you notice it, I had this problem a bit when I used to use Pro Tools 6 for doing sample based cut up stuff. You could eithe...

I recommend Roland EG-101.
It's a version of MC-303 with 37 Keys and a sampler.
Oooh, a fine choice, I've always kind of wanted one of those, simply for cheese factor. Don't know if there were enough of them made to start a whole genre though.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Microkorg prices start to go up in the next few years as all the millions of teenagers who have one start to make decent music with them. to me the microkorg sounds 1/10 as good as the stuff u can make with an er-1. i know they're different but as far as price, i woul...

That's the long way of doing it. Quick and easy way: Tempo = Beats per minute First count how many beats the sample is and write this number down. Then see how long the sample is in seconds (just line it up to 0 on the time ruler) and divide that number by 60 to get the time in minutes. Divide the n...

1. Poly Evolver Keyboard expanded to 16 voices
2. MS-20
3. Machinedrum UW
4. MPC2500
5. V-Synth

Maybe not all that vintage, but there's very little you couldn't do with that setup.

That Mackie comes with a copy of Tracktion, if you're going with that I'd hold off on buying Cubase until you find something Tracktion can't do.

have you seen tallow's samson rant? http://www.vintagesynth.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=26473 when it comes to monitors, you really get what you pay for. if you can possibly wait and save up for better monitors i would do so. at those prices i would hardly expect to get accurate bass or a flat respo...

Minimoog, Juno 6, pro one, cs-15, cs-10, etc etc etc.

But I agree, it's the way of the future. ;)
