Re: TR-808 with blue step buttons 1-4?

It's all the same kind of gear fetish/trivia geek thinking. Like the folks who spend a bunch of time playing with different op amps in Ibanez Tube Screamers to find the best sounding one, even though the guys who made those boxes popular just grabbed whichever one was nearest to them in the store.

Re: Richard Pinhas East West synths

"E-mu computer" is probably an E-mu 4060 polyphonic CV/gate keyboard/sequencer unit.

Re: Inner Sleeve of Edgar Froese's Stuntman Album, 1979!

The keyboard just under the MC8 is a Korg PE 2000, aka Poly Ensemble S. Guitar is a '70s Les Paul Custom. Bottom right is a Rhodes piano, an ARP Omni appears to be on top of that. Not sure what the other two are.

How common are memory batteries in late model synths?

That's what the Wikipedia entry for the album says. Quite the all star cast on that one, including George Duke, who played keys and produced it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let%27s_He ... oy_(album)

Pretty sure David Formula and Billy Currie both use(d) whitefaces, so there's two accounted for in the UK.

Re: What is the original of this song?

If it's a cover I'd look more in the direction of Bananarama or an American act like Nu Shooz than the Beatles.

Re: Preloaded Perfect Presets

Given how many presets were apparently never altered in the early days of prgrammable synths it's a reasonable guess today's users aren't any more lilkely to progam things.

To be picky "Oxygene IV" is an ARP 2600, not a Mini.

If you're worried about that kind of thing best to test all your equipment. And your food, clothes, etc. etc. You never know what nuclear thingy they might have been near. That reminds me, have to finish off the current batch of banannas I have, because banannas are supposedly radioactive.

Re: Old Roland Samplers (S Series, W-30, etc)

Don't forget the DJ 70, and the upgraded DJ 70 MkII. Both had 3 octave keyboards and a large disk on the right side for doing turntable scratching imitations. Oddball members of the U20 family were the Rhodes Model 660 and Model 760. Roland owned the Rhodes name at the time, and the two units were b...
