Re: Yamaha TX7. How much should I ask for?

My Spanish is pretty much non-existent, but that's what the ad seems to be implying, especially since you can buy FM tuba samples on eBay as well.

Re: Yamaha TX7. How much should I ask for?

How's this for a ridiculous price for one? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/MODULO-YAMAHA-TX ... 588f1d30f5 Are FM tuba sounds popular in Latin music?

Re: Guitar synths , some thoughts

As far as the GR700 goes Adrian Belew used one on his stuff in the second half of the '80s, such as Desire Develops a Tail. Robert Fripp used one, but I don't think it made any recordings other than a soundpage for Guitar Player. Vernon Reid did a duet record with Bill Frisell called Smash and Scatt...

Re: Guitar synths , some thoughts

No GR700 on Joe's Garage given that it was recorded in '78. I've never seen any indication Zappa used analog guitar synths on record or live. Are you sure there's any guitar lead playiing on "Sy Borg?" Sounds like a Minimoog playing leads on there. Any analog synth sounding guitar sounds from Zappa ...

Re: Korg Monotribe ?

It might be a temperature thing. The early analog stuff drifted due to heating.

Re: vintage synth appearance in movies/pictures/

I don't have any footage to point to, but the 1991 Japanese sci fi film Zeiram has a strange use of musical gear. The Earth base of Iria, an alien bounty hunter who comes to Earth to hunt down the title monster, includes severa pieces of circa 1990 Roland gear. I seem to remember there being an A80 ...

Re: Aren't we due for a new Yamaha QY module?

I wonder if it really is still in production, or if Yamaha just doesn't have a bunch in a wearhouse someplace.

Re: Beginner Appropriate Synthesizer

Do you want good approximations of "tradiational" instrument sounds like piano, organ etc.? That will narrow the field down some.

Talk About Canned Music!

Or maybe I should have called this post "Hurdy Gurdy MIDI."

Those were apparently some mind expanding beans this guy ate.

Re: Violin Tracks on "Quadrophenia" - What ARP Synth?

The Who in general in the '70s and early '80s had trouble incorporating the synth sounds off their records into live work. They used tape of the "Won't Get Fooled Again" synth parts, and regularly had the tapes fail in one way or another.

Re: Who can identify these Rocky Soundtrack Synths?

Young was Tony Kaye's keyboard tech on Yes's 90125 tour, and apparently played the occasional part while hidden in a keyboard pit under the stage.

Re: Steve Winwood and the Multimoog

Winwood does some amazing "fretless bass" playing on "Night Train," which I assume is the Multi. Very convincing.

On the other hand in the vid we get to see him play piano on a Prophet 10. :)

Re: Video clips from "classic" movies featuring electr

Listened to a couple more. The "Bertone Ramarro-Prototype" clip starts with Jarre's "Oxygene 2" before switching to something else. Didn't recognise any of the other music.

Re: Video clips from "classic" movies featuring electr

The music in the first video is "Equinoxe 2" by Jean Michel Jarre. The music in the second video sounds vaguely familiar. One of Francis Monkman's pieces of library music? There's also a bit of Kraftwerk's "The Man Machine" at the end. Not sure about video 3, but it could be the same artist as part ...
