Re: What Keyboards Did Kraftwerk Use on Their 1970 Debut?

Here's Kraftwerk playing "Tanzmusik" on German TV, supposedly in '73. Wolfgang Flur is playing electronic drums here. Synths are Minimoog and Synth AKS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCg7hPeUdvE&feature=related The following came from a 1975 episode of the old US music TV series The Midnight Specia...

Re: A MYTH?

2) The best way to find out is to ask someone who has played both Tridents. The odds of you finding that person are very slim. I'd start asking VERY experienced synth techs. Rick Wakeman and Keith Emerson might be other possibilities. Joe Randomguy might have trouble getting a response from them I ...

Wouldn't surprise me. TD recycled stuff from their albums for soundtracks. The Risky Business soundtrack is a good example.

Re: Who played the synths on The Police's recordings?

If you've got specific examples of sounds in particular songs you're interested in, ask. Live both Sting and Andy Summers used Moog Taurus pedals, but I don't think they were heard on the studio recordings. Summers had a Minimoog onstage for several tours, and appears to have also had a Prophet 5 on...

Re: Video clips from "classic" movies featuring electr

Trailers are often done before things like the soundtrack are. For that matter more than one film has had a soundtrack done, only to have it replaced when the director decided it didn't work with the film, or for some other reason. A good example would be the movie 2010 . Tony Banks was originally s...

Re: I Need a Tiny BATTERY POWERED MIDI Keyboard

None of the really tiny Casios had MIDI, and I'm guessing from the mention of the Korg Nanokey that something like the MT240 is too big for what you want.

Re: Will FM ever be sought after ???

All FM needs to become popular again is someone with some public visibility to be seen using it. They don't even actually need to be really using it, just appear in a video or photoshoot with a DX7 visible and suddenly everyone and their wannabe dog will be rooting around pawn shops looking for them...

Re: What if?

The Realistic Concertmate 500 version of the Casio SK1. You might be able to find it cheaper than an actual SK1 since everyone buys them for circuit bending.

I suspect it's probably a sample of someone hitting an anvil with a hammer, or perhaps someone dropping a piece of metal on a cement floor.

Re: Synths that store patches through a cassette interface

The Roland MC8 Microcomposer was another piece of equipment that used cassette backup. Because of how long it took to save a sequence Roland developed the MTR100 digital cassette recorder for use with the followup MC4 Microcomposer. The Sequential Circuits Poly Sequencer came with a built in microca...

Re: lowest prodution run of a major synth manufacturer

The figure I've seen for the Roland System 700 is 50 units, which I'm slightly skeptical about, especially since VSE itself says it was supposedly made from 1976 to 1982.

Re: John Foxx - CR-78, Odyssey

If Roland got a cut of the songwriting royalties from tracks written with or around the CR78 they'd have made a lot. "In The Air Tonight" for example is CR78.

Re: impedance?

No, you won't damage an amp because of an impedance mismatch between an instrument input and an instrument. (Speaker connections are another matter. Attaching the wrong load to the speaker outputs of an amp can damage the amp.) I'd be far more worried about damaging a speaker by running an inappropr...
