Re: Artists' "Signature" Synth Sounds
I' think Andrew Farriss's setup at the time of Kick was a Roland Juno 60, Prophet T8, and DX7.

Re: Video clips from "classic" movies featuring electr
And speaking of Canadian TV themes... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i76ZUPup9LQ One of the earliest electronic music pieces to become a hit in Canada was "Tillicum" by the group Syrinx. It was the theme to the CTV documentary series Here Come The Seventies , which debuted in September of 1970. The ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doVlJYpkyQU Another TV example, this time the theme to the Canadian current affairs show W5 in the '80s. This one may be hard to figure out. Nah, not really. I seem to remember they used a cover version of this when the show entered the '90s. This one sounds very fami...

Re: Here We Discuss Brian Eno's Use of Vintage Synths
I don't know if I'd take any stories about Eno's technical compitence or lack thereof at face value. Given some of his other working methods I wouldn't put it past him to behave in whatever way he suspects will get the best results from whoever he's working with. Although he's often refered to himse...

Re: EII and Fairlight libraries in Wav?
It;s a lot easier and safer to load sample libraries into somethng more modern if you want to use those sounds live. instead of risking your EII or Fairlight bouncing around in the back of a truck.

There's not all that much to alter on the GR300. http://www.joness.com/gr300/GR-300.htm

Re: Here We Discuss Brian Eno's Use of Vintage Synths
Eno used a Sequential Circuits Pro 1 in the early '80s, which he liked for its arpeggiator. He told interviewer Chris Everard in 1984 he didn't like the Prophet 5. At the time he also had a Casio 202 and a Farfisa organ that supposedly formerly belonged to Pink Floyd. http://music.hyperreal.org/arti...

Re: soviet synth output
Those are old style European DIN audio jacks. You'll need to find cables with a DIN plug on one end and a standard one quarter or one eighth inch connector on the other end, or make those cables yourself.

I seem to remember there were some Japanese magazines that published pop music arrangements based on the actual tracks. Good luck finding them if they do exist.

Re: Most compact and versatile live-setup?
Obviously it's going to depend on what you're playing. A techno guy likely isn't going to find much use for an Electro, and a rock band keyboardist likely doesn't want an Electribe.

Supposedly this one was owned by Keith Emerson. I'm a touch skeptical.
