Re: Jarre on Electronic Music and America misunderstanding:

You might just have done it! "Just lie back and listen...go with the flow" - love it. I'm definitely on the 'analytical' side usually - but I think you may have just reintroduced me to an artist from the right stand point! Apologies for changing the thread from Jarre to Schultz (and as an aside - su...

Re: Jarre on Electronic Music and America misunderstanding:

Probably a bit harsh - I own 4 of his albums but cant't get into even one piece. Am happy to read all you can say on why I should like his music - there are enough people who like him to suggest there's something in his music - I just don't get it (genuinely) - but would love to be convinced otherwi...

Re: Jarre on Electronic Music and America misunderstanding:

Did you listen to the interview? From what you heard, what is the history you think he's rewriting? I didn't hear anything. Here's where I stand and how seriously I take Jarre: he sold 80 million albums of electronic music. He has also put on concerts for millions of people, playing electronic music...

Re: How often do you auto-tune your JP-6?

Once, shortly after power up. That's all I need on any given typical day (in fact have never had tuning issues and just do it by rote after I power up but have never had a tuning issue so have never thought about it until now!).

Re: Roland Boutique

Really quick reaction - I know the Juno 106 well, and from even that bit of lead playing on the Ju 06 - it really does sound like a Juno 106. It was instantaneously recognizable as a Juno sound. I've been skeptical, and accept this is a quick comparison - but - initial signs are very positive and ho...

Re: SQ-1 or Beatstep-Pro with MonoPoly or CS40M ?

Thanks for your reply. Can you tell me - Can you traspose the sequences on the SQ-1 from the MONO POLY keyboard? I see it only has a MIDI OUT and not MIDI IN so you cant do it with MIDI devices - a big oversight in my opinion. Korg seem to be weak on the MIDI side - for example none of their MonoPol...

Re: Sub 37, CS-60, Minimoog

As a CS80 owner and lover and big admirer of the CS60 - I say - unequivocally - do not do it! Price alone - the Minimoog outstrips even mint a CS60, and the difference will only increase. That aside, in my opinion, for pure synth reasons, you will regret it - even if you love the CS60 (which is a ma...

SQ-1 or Beatstep-Pro with MonoPoly or CS40M ?

Can anyone tell me if the Korg SQ-1 and Arturia Beatstep Pro can act as a sequencer to the Korg MonoPoly and Yamaha CS40M?

Similarly - has anyone connected wither to a Moog Little-Phatty (via CV / Gate)?

Thanks,
Kevin.

Re: New Roland ANALOG/DIGITAL JD-XA "Flagship" Synth -NAMM 2

Couldn't have said it better. Fully agree with all your points. I've been contemplating buying these synths too (and a few others) but instead have held off and in fact am starting an intensive saving spell for a few years to see if i can get a Jupiter 8. If I'm willing to contemplate spending 4000 ...

Interestingly the CP and YP sold out, immediately, at Thomann!

There's obviously big demand for those model.

Re: Yamaha Reface

I don't want to get to the model on a piano - I just want to play it. Same with the VL1 models !! But seriously - i take you point. It would be more complete if you could access the models themselves However - I think Yamaha have got the 'depth' right - even with the expert editor, I did nothing int...

Have to say you've lost me man!

Are you serious - do you actually have a Reface VL prototype or are you joking?

Re: Yamaha Reface

Surely Stab Frenzy is joking here ???

I'm a bit confuse with his logic - he's saying Yamaha created a fake picture in case it leaked - and they've provided him with a prototype he's happy to confirm exists on a public forum, even though Yamaha would have asked for it to be kept under wraps ?

Re: Yamaha Reface

@abruzzi: I assure you, on the VL1 and 7, you can edit the sounds to an extraordinary degree. I used the "expert editor" on the VL1 original, but actually, tired of it. The dozens of edit parameters on board the VL1 are as comprehensive as on any synth, while the three wheels, breath controller, fad...
