Re: Anybody got any insight into the Oberheim Matrix 6?

Thanks for the info - very helpful and appreciated. had hoped to hear that it was on a par with the Xpander but seemingly not.

@Sir ruff - accept online demos are useful, but there's not substitute from hearing the thoughts of actual users (that's what forums are for ;) )

Anybody got any insight into the Oberheim Matrix 6?

I've been contemplating getting an Oberheim Matrix 6 for years, and they seem to go for good prices these days, but always back off from it because I just don't know enough about the instrument, and it looks like there's too much writing on the control panel and not enough live controls. Does anyone...

Re: Would you buy a CS80 if re-released?

You know what? The number of views of this thread is quite interesting and in itself may suggest a healthy interest in the return of instruments like the CS80! The interest - even if just curiosity for most - is similar to the 'interest' shown in similar threads prior tot he actual release of the li...

Re: Jupiter 6 Vs Proph 08

I own a Jupiter 6 and I love it. It's rock solid, got buckets of options and capability, absolutely classic Roland sound. I have a prophet T8 too and love it - but find that because of the lay out of the control surface I tend not to experiment as much with it as I do with the J6. The J6 overflows w...

Re: Would you buy a CS80 if re-released?

hmmm - but - who, ten years ago, would have imagines: dozens of modular synth companies, prophet12, family of moog mono synths, arturia mini brute, korg analogue range, ..... - there's something new and exciting happening that looks like all types of synths finding their place and market - so why no...

Re: Would you buy a CS80 if re-released?

Oh yes - thanks shaft9000 for picking up on that and clarifying it - genuinely appreciated. I was ambiguous. Arturia software engineers (software programmers did a stunning job !!). It's the preset designers / programmers I was suggesting might not have been CS80 users - virtually none of the preset...

Re: Would you buy a CS80 if re-released?

I think Automatic Gainsay you are being too cautious and precious about the original. It's basic sonic character is quite OK - but noting special - and I've heard quite influential CS80 owners and players even say "underwhelming"!. As indicated in a post further up, it's the particular design, layou...

Re: Would you buy a CS80 if re-released?

But there is no point making a "modern cs-80" that doesn't sound and work exactly like the old CS-80. Then you might aswell buy Arturias CS-80V for 130 bucks. Or the Origin keyboard with all the presets and controls in there. That's because the programmers Arturia used know, or seem to know, very l...

Re: Kraftwerk 3D

I've always disliked Kraftwerk; and the video shown here only compounds that feeling. Absolutely depressing. I feel they are the biggest con going. They are doing absolutely nothing on stage. I'm being earnest about that and not trolling to trying to provoke. I cannot for the life of me see, or hear...

Re: Would you buy a CS80 if re-released?

Really interesting replies. Seems to be a fair split between yes and no - though the number of views and replies to the thread show a fair amount of basic interest! I own a few prisine CS80s ( :-) ). And I have to say there's nothing like it. Polyphonic aftertocuh, the ring modulator, the 20 perform...

Would you buy a CS80 if re-released?

If Yamaha re-released the CS80, would you buy one?

What's the maximum (realistic) price you'd pay?

Re: What's the bass synth on Equinoxe Part VII?

Thanks! It's an amazing bass sound, and line. And there's quite a lot going on - vibrato, some pitch bending,... A great bass part.

What's the bass synth on Equinoxe Part VII?

Anyone know what synth Jarre used on Equinoxe Part VII for the bass part? Is it an ARP2600?
