Re: JP 8000 Volume Output

Is a new potentiometer something that you think that a relative novice could replace?

Also, what is the op-amp problem you were refering to? Is that doable by ones lonesome?

Is any of this work something you could do?

JP 8000 Volume Output

Ok, so I recently acquired a JP8000 for a nice price. Since then, I have been having some issues maybe someone can help with. After just getting it, i noticed the amp level knob stopped responding to my dictation, despite my efforts to use contact cleaner on it. I figured it was no big deal and move...

Re: What was the ultimate drum machine of the '80's?

I think it would be safe to say the following:

Analog: Roland TR-808

Sample based: Linn Drum/ Oberheim DMX (tie)

Re: Help for a new JP8000 owner

Well, nevermind folks. I had a hunch there were some dirty contacts, so i went to Realistic (erm, radioshack) :D and got some contact cleaner. Problem solved. What a great sounding synth, and I got it for a real bargain!

Help for a new JP8000 owner

Well, I just secured my JP8000 today. I checked it out, everything seemed up to snuff. I have reinitialized the machine, and am getting used to how it works. I think i have encountered a problem, but i am not sure. Whenever i turn the Amp level knob down and then up, the sound level of the patch doe...

Re: Your dream synth ?

My dream synth would just be a 12 voice VCO driven Jupiter 8 with a 4 track analog sequencer built in. 8) :D

Re: Minimal Setup Discussion

This thread is a breath of fresh air, as I am chronic GAS sufferer who is just now getting to like such ideas. I have a microkorg as my poly synth, programmable arpeggiator, and vocoder. I know this machine inside and out, and I couldn't imagine living without it (especially considering its size). ...

Re: Microkorg XL

Well, if any of that stuff you guys recently posted is true, count me the h**l out. 650 street for a glorified software synth with no tangible sound engine improvements outside of the voicing and vocoder bands? Wow, and here I was all excited..... [-X

Re: Access VIRUS prices....

It is not just Access stuff...the new and used synth markets were noticeably affected by the economy. I saw micromoogs at GASP 450-500....which is what they fricking should be. I just hope this trend can last long enough for me to be able to snag something. Good luck on catching that Virus ...

Re: Microkorg XL

Well, hopefully NAMM will provide some answers. There seems to be a lack of actual information on this thing so far. As for the R3, i finally used one today, and man it seemed to be fairly poorly constructed, and the sounds was similar to other korg VA stuff. I think the inclusion of ROMpler stuff w...

Re: Korg MS2000 vs Analog options

If you're on a budget, the MS2000 would be a great buy. It has a lot of features and is reliable. Howevever, if you have some $ laying around, a dave smith prophet 08 would be a fantastic buy. It all depends on how much you want to spend.
