Most LP complaints are superficial: the name, the fixed slope back, TE users complaining about SE software/firmware updates, SE owners complaining about no wood sides, etc. Yet the consensus is that LP, TE or SE, provides the best analog monosynth bang for the buck. To me, my SE is the most *musica...

Re: Quick questions about Little Phatty

Also, how would you guys compare the LP to the sound of the Prodigy or a Source? Has anyone done a side by side with these? Does the LP defeat all other Moog comers short of the mini and voyager? While this is a matter of taste, I'd say yes. Certainly from a price / features / warranty point of vie...

Quick questions about Little Phatty

I had a couple of questions about the LP, so i would appreciate some feedback should anyone know. The LP is listed to have 2 "ultra stable analog oscialltors"...now the terminology used there was interesting to me, so i was wondering if anyone knows what that means. Does that mean it has DCO's? Or h...

Oh the Juno is completely lovely, the entire synth is one massive sweet spot. I've found it quite impossible to make BAD sounds on it. And I've done my share of programming :) But the unison mode is a waste without any way of detuning the voices. Sure, on something like the Prophet-5, you don't nee...

Nice stuff thestreets! Anyways, one of my favorite patches ever is in the Faint's "Paranoiattack..." its the buzzy lead sound used a couples times... Other ones i really enjoy include New Order's bass patch on Blue Monday, Yazoo's pro one intro to "Don't Go", the Bravery's arpeggio on "honest mistak...

it's a totally accurate description. i think what you are looking to do is to call them subtractive synthesizers, because that describes less the nature of the circuitry and more the nature of their synthesis. Missed the point man. He's saying a synth is a synth is a synth. Call any machine that al...

"VA synthesizers are inferior to vintage synthesizers." "Everyone needs a 303." "Because i have rooms and rooms of sweet vintage s**t, my music is there fore good." I will be the first to admit that my music isn't anything new or inventive. I like making it though and it's been known to please people.

I own all three. I say go for it. The JP8000 is a great synth for just playing and enjoying. Great layout. Nice pitchbender and ribbon controller (way better than the one of the an1x). Soundwise? Well, you get the supersaw which is very unique (even amount many modern copies (virus, softsynths, etc...

not knocking the thread, but what the h**l does "bass 3/10" even mean? does that mean synth X can do gritty dirty basses? or smooth analog basses? or what explain this to me? It means it sucks at making basses period. It has a weak low end and he wouldn't dream of using that thing to fill out a bas...

Attention JP 8000 lovers

Hey everyone...wanted to kind of pick your brains a little bit. I have an opportunity to score a JP-8000 for a reasonable fee, and I want to get it, but I am concerned it would be redundant, sonically speaking. Considering my current setup, which features an AN1x and a MS2000B (and the emx1 for that...

The 5000 has better output electronics than the 101. It's less noisy (if you don't use the chorus) and has an extended HF response compared to the 101. I think the sequencer is kid of cool, the step programming is interesting. What you should do actually, is look out for a CZ-1. This has the best s...

I can't believe you ditched the triangle waveform though. Gotta love that triangle.

Seriously...screw tuned noise...give me a triangle there...and I will still vote for sawtooth.
