Thanks for the info aXL - in that case it seems important to find out what version you are getting before you buy.

Aren't the Prophet-10s a bit unreliable? I'm sure I heard that due to there being almost twice the components in less than twice the space, the Prophet-10s experienced all sorts of problems involving overheating. Anyone know more about that? A good investment if you can keep the thing running though...

Usually it's between 100-140. 120 is a happy medium.

Some clown might have glued them on - that happened when I bought my Octave Cat. You'll need to have them professionally removed, and destroyed in the process!

Sorry man but if that's the case it's the only way...

To be honest I think just about any VA and even many softies sound better than an ESQ-1. I’m talking sound alone. It has an easy interface (still not as fun as knobs though), on-board sequencer, and lots of modulation capabilities. It just sounds like s**t. Correct me if I’m wrong but its oscillato...

Whilst screwing around I found the PolySix to do a pretty decent TB-303 - let her rip!

I Think We're Alone Now cover - chill out with synths

Hey guys, someone requested I do a cover and although wanted it to fit into the "house" genre I came out with this. Loads of synths, a microphone, autotune and some drum + string section samples. Any feedback would be appreciated about the track - especially regarding my c**p production and headphon...

The LP is great because it's simple, sounds fantastic and has a warranty. ;) MIDI is a welcome bonus too.

There's always the MEK if you are looking for something a bit different of course...

SUBMIT DAMMIT!

It's gotta be said that as of late Alesis haven't been getting their act together with the current Ion and Andromeda synths. So I think it'll be a good while before they consider making a rack at this rate - correct me if I'm wrong but I'm quite sure you still can't even buy an Ion new in the UK tha...

Something easy to use, polyphonic that has character and sounds good to boot?

A Nord lead might be a good bet - like the G2 but simple subtractive synthesis with loads of knobs and no menu diving.

you may have gotten great vocal tracks, but the comprosser is not for effect value...its to have a balanced audio input. last thing anyone wants who mixing the records is vocal volume all over place on a track, thats why a comprosser is so crucial when doing vocal tracks. As mentioned by another po...

Hardly a guru myself but a decent studio condenser microphone should do you fine - cardiode pick-up pattern will be fine too. You obviously need a source of phantom power and a pre-amp too and people tend to make big fusses about all this stuff. I say, if you are starting out and doing basic ...
