The lead line at the start of this track sounds A LOT like a preset from the CZ-3000:

Re: Tell me about microphones and pres
Can't say I've had tons of experience with microphones, but if you are looking for a good vocal microphone I'd seriously check out the AKG Soildtube. http://www.allegrosound.com/AKG_SolidTube.jpg The studio I'm engineering at has 3 (!) and they also have a U87 - according to them the Solidtube holds...

Re: Ensoniq ESQ-1 TRIVIA!
Yeah, that's my actual ESQ-1 memory cart. It came with the synth when I obtained it and for some reason holds 2 x 2 x 4 banks of sounds.synthy wrote:cool. not sure either. wonder if it will fit in the cart slot of the esq-1? is it yours or a just a pic you found?

Not sure if this is an original Ensoniq memory cart but it's able to hold 160(!) patches:

Re: FOUND! 5-Tier Synth Stand but....
I'm rolling with a Jaspers 4-tier right now:

I'm in the UK and shipping it across here wasn't a problem for them. Not sure about the US though. I will say it took a good few weeks to arrive if my memory serves me.

Re: A Valve Polysynth in a Rack with MIDI Anyone?
I'd do the VCAs as solid state since they don't really contribute to the tone any. This may not be the case if one is given the option of overdriving the VCAs. However in the scheme of things I agree that the benefits (tube overdrive) would not outweigh the cons (more expensive, less reliable, more...

Re: juno 60 vs jx3p vs polysix.
I don't mind the colour scheme... I don't really like the new font... but anyway.... My main beef isn't that it's white, I just don't think the other colours really gel with it. There's no denying that the Juno-60 is the looker either way though. the only problem with that well constructed thing, i...

I believe there is a small tuning pot on the rear panel. Try that.

Re: juno 60 vs jx3p vs polysix.
I don't have the information in regard to the architecture of Jx-3P envelopes, but they are largely hailed as being the slowest and mushiest envelopes... which is hardly the trademark of digital. I believe that honour lies with the JX-8P/10. Even with the attack at its lowest setting, to me, it sti...

Re: What is the Oldest Piece of Gear in Your Studio?
Synth-wise definitely my Octave CAT SRM and Logan String Melody II (both '77/'78 I think?). However I also have a WEM Dominator 15W tube amp that's probably a few years older. Still has the stock tubes in it as well!

Re: What synth (s) you own but haven't played for over 1 year
I have a Casio CZ-3000, E-MU EMAX II and Roland D-50 sitting in cupboards right now. No space for them right now and besides they both have missing keys and, quite frankly, aren't worth selling given their current market value anyway. Much better to hold on to them for the time being - here's hoping...

Re: Bob Moog on the Minimoog
To be honest from what I've read in Analog Days and seen in the Moog documentary it seems quite apparent that Bob was immensely fond of the Theremin, possibly more so than his own creation.
