Re: older first generation lineage VA synths ;)
I still wonder how many ppl can hear the difference between a properly programmed VA and a properly programmed RA in a dense mix..

Re: Is there any money in the sample DVD business?
Years ago I spoke to a distributor of sample CD's in NL, according to him sample libraries based on synthesizers sell like a 80 year old worn-out wrinkled tit in highschool. Regarding sample CD's, people want acoustic instruments like orchestras, choirs, solo instruments, guitars, drums, ethnic inst...

Re: Vintage VA synths
i dont want a flame war Learn the difference between "flame war" and "discussion". I wasnt saying VA's are better than RA's. I own a dot com modular, if I didnt like analog I wouldnt use it. I like both apples and oragnes though. Nor was I, I wast just saying that your point "Although nothing does ...

Then again, what's "better" ..?
It's a bit like a pair of compasses to draw a circle. A manufacturer of those could say: "my compasses do a perfect circle, and the circle can't be improved by the competition, ever!"

Re: synth for trance music
If you're not afraid of deep sound designing, try FM8. You can do about anything with it. 909 bass drums and snare drums are a cookie, and you can tweak and shape them beyond the real 909. With zillions of snappy envelope possibilities you can precisely shape a bass drum to make it punch through a m...

Blame the sound designer, not the sound engine.ELPsteel wrote:I already have a Yamaha Motif, but the digital sounds just don't cut it for me.

Rates should be per minute rather than per song.
Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells has only 2 tracks.
(and yes, they're individual songs forged into two big tracks, but still..)

Re: Sequencer Software
With internet, everything can be had. Legal and otherwise. Morally I'd say: test 'm all and eventually buy what you *really* use (unless you're happy with freeware stuff). Somehow I always have high hopes that a proper license gives me the right to nag for features @ the programmers.. :P Keep in min...

Re: Sequencer Software
Same thing. Ease of use is subjective. A violin is not very easy to play for most people, yet Vanessa Mae can literary dream all her finger's positions and all the relevant strokes. (ok, not a very smart example I guess :D) All people who're using some tool of that list I gave all claim their tool i...

-yet- But ok, since the epic shipment of fail has arrived already: the point was that there is no best software. Ask people around here what software they use and you'll end up with: - Cubase - Logic - Sonar - Protools - Ableton - Fruityloops - Trackers etc. In random order and in random quantities....
