Re: synth speculation rant

Anyway... most people don't buy a Jupiter 8 to have it sit on the shelf... so they can look at it.... they buy it to use it cause it sounds brilliant. Nothing these days can really make that sound. The reason they are worth what they are worth is cause they sound good. Do you know who the biggest c...

Re: New synth from Roland?

The only way in which a new instrument would be interesting towards those who need realistic acoustic instruments simulations is by going brute force . So, either ship it with an array of SSD's containing a terabyte worth o' acoustic samples, or ship it with a brutal load o' CPU power in order to do...

Re: New synth from Roland?

They seem to still be of the attitude "we design the future" without realizing that they have no idea of what the future is anymore. The problem, as far as I see it, is that they've been outpaced by technology. Without aiming at another HW vs SW debate, but when the industry has been using sample l...

Re: New synth from Roland?

Nah, Roland should create freeware VST's of all their legacy synths. If they can't sell the physical ones any more they surely won't mind people downloading them for free, innit? :)

*cough*

Re: New synth from Roland?

Yea, 'analogue' or 'digital' are merely ways to implement a feature. In this case, the feature is "create a sawtooth". There's no reason why analogue wouldn't be in use today and as such it can't be labelled retro . The only relevant discussion could be whether digital has evolved to such levels whe...

Re: Which studio monitors should I buy?

I'm not really into blasting the room with IMO boring Dubstep wubbing, so I don't really see the point of a subwoofer. I don't wobble at all, yet I'm quite happy with my speakers going down to 25Hz. The orchestra can go quite low, take the double basses, the contra bassoons, the bass drums, anythin...

The first issue features (..) Vangelis (..) and many more.
So, is this an exclusive interview with the person who rarely appears in the spotlight? Or is it more like a summary of Elsewhere? :)
