Re: Logic X update - nice new Eq's + more
Thanks for the info, Rob. I took the plunge tonight, despite my reluctance to change something that's working already (logic 9)... Took three tries just to get the f**k additional content downloaded and installed, at try three, I got fed up, trashed Logic X, rebooted, re-downloaded the app, and mira...

Re: Advice for Shipping Synths
So, go to FedEx instead. Those are all company-owned stores, which means everyone there is a FedEx employee. And this immediately equates to everyone having advanced degrees in packaging? I don't follow your logic at all. I've been shipping "stuff" for quite some time. I've used USPS, FedEx, DHL, U...

Access Virus kC
Novation Supernova / Supernova 2
Roland V-Synth
All three will be at or near your top end budget; all 61 keys, all highly tweakable, and they all have reasonably decent action. (I'd give the highest keybed action marks to the Virus, in my opinion)

Re: Andromeda buyer tips
Thanks all for your responses. I did take some time to read the tips at wohmart, and recall seeing some of the ones mentioned here. Still undecided on whether to get one, but here is some excerpts of me having fun playing the User Presets on Z's A6: http://108.163.194.218/~murmurbe/music/demos/A6-U...

Re: Andromeda buyer tips
I'm an owner (many years, in fact). I'm also selling mine in the B/S/T (for a quite reasonable price, I might add). The things that you are on the lookout for, regarding the vast majority of vintage or current synths applies here. Mainly, that all 16 voices are serviceable and tune correctly, and th...

Re: Speculation time!
I swear we've done this before. Could be the lack of good available drugs speaking... That said, We should all welcome our new overlord, the Arturia Brute, hailing in with 4 each, 2x Oscillators (including -1/-2 Sub), a much more extensive modulation routing, both LFOs having the ability to run eith...

Re: Sell everything and grab a CS-80
As for your question "Can a CS-80 satisfy all of my sound design needs", absolutely not. The CS-80 is like a PPG or an ARP Quadra in that it is a quite specific sound and not something that is very broadly useable in production. The CS-80 is the synth that you get once you have the rest of your rig...

Re: Sell everything and grab a CS-80
Bollocks. I think you'd be, in the end at least, highly disappointed. In my opinion, aside from all the mysticism surrounding it, it would likely not serve you in the full capacity that you desire. If you've never played one extensively, and especially the radical change one would have to make to af...

Save it and wait for the new Elektron offering due out in a few short days.
Barring that, more voltage sources and utility modules. And I think my Waves update plan is coming due. f**k.

Re: A concise explanation of digital vs. analog?
A concise explanation of digital audio is that digital is analog ous to the original waveform. :) ...I'm just saying that it is a key characteristic - the key characteristic - of digital audio... No, it's not a key characteristic, it's just that some people insist on joining the dots with straight ...

Re: modern home keyboards with decent fake anolog sounds?
If I recall correctly, you may be have a spot of luck securing a Novation K Station very close to your price range. If you're willing to grab a module and then an inexpensive MIDI controller, perhaps you could investigate a Roland SH-32, or a DSI Mopho. Both machines can be had for reasonable prices...
