Re: Need to track down name of a mid-90s synth/midi controll
Hello all :) I'm trying to settle an argument with a friend and I need to find out the name of a symth that another friend of ours used around the mid-90s. It was a blue-coloured synth and it had blue LED lights that made it stand out. I'm fairly certain it was called: The <Brand name> Blue - but w...

Re: How Much Is My Synth Worth?
There's one on eBay right now asking $150.00 with no bids. That one also has one non-working key so yours is currently worth less than $150.00. It's got a starting bid of $150,- and a reserve of $500.-; that affects the outcome a bit. I don't agree with the assertion that just 'coz that one has no ...

Re: How Much Is My Synth Worth?
If you know the problem you're facing with the dead key, you'd stand a better chance at getting a higher price for it -- and more if you fixed it before selling. There are a few members of this forum that can either help you get parts to fix, or find a reputable service center to have it repaired. T...

Re: What are your favorite type of synth sounds?
That's not even a synth..it's just a drum and some horns blasting. Clearly I should have tagged it with <kidding> </kidding>. 'Twas a bit of an attempt at humor. I prefer base waves rich in harmonics; I also prefer to distort those waves to create even more harmonics; I also enjoy the sound of a co...

I'm always in. I appreciate the outreach to kids, and the sharing of musicality (especially within the electronic arena).
...and... DAMN I would love to have that Voyager.

Re: Suggestions for a CV/MIDI + SH-101 setup
CV is a great control method, not as versatile but whatever. Huh? [-X As stated before, a x0xb0x is a nice, inexpensive way to get a MIDI/CV (and get a pretty sweet TB-303 clone as well) Expert Sleepers, has 'silent way' and the hardware component (the ES-1 through 4) that you can use to control di...

Re: Thoughts on Buying a Used PCAudioLabs Computer?
The PCAudioLabs people claim that their systems are optimized for audio production, but I'm not really clear on what that involves besides the ultra quiet fan. Any idea? Most of the 'optimization' occurs in the software. The system itself is designed to operate quieter in a studio environment, but ...

Re: Thoughts on Buying a Used PCAudioLabs Computer?
The PC AudioLabs machines are custom build machines with fairly common components. There's nothing wrong with them; from what I've experienced with them, they do use good quality components in their builds. That being said... I would consider this a tad overpriced for what it has. Truthfully, if you...

Re: To 2013 and Beyond!
I'm actually really looking forward to Live 9/Push and the new offering from Elektron; I think that'll keep me busy enough for the next year. I still have yet to try out the Tempest, the Minibrute, heaps of outstanding euro modules out there... 2013 may be my year to slim down the studio to a Buchla...

Re: Help to buy my (future) first Moog
On the second-hand market a Prodigy goes for about the same as a Little Phatty, but the Little Phatty is a vastly superior instrument IMO. Leave the Prodigies for the retro-fetishists and buy something more capable that will last without needing maintenance. I own a Prodigy. I also own a Little Pha...

Re: Windows 8
Some VST companies no longer exist I can't tell you (not immediately anyhow) how many plugins gone to companies disappearing or randomly discontinuing a product (Bias, FAW to name two) that will never see updates and will assuredly never run on future Operating Systems. ...but I digress... Quite ho...

That's so ill, I'mma get 10 of those.
How Valentino Liberace.
Regardless, if I had $15k burnin' a wee hole in me trousers, I guess I'd fancy one. I'd rock it on stage, then proceed to pull more tail than a slow kid at a petting zoo.

Re: Macbeth or Telemark?
The M5/M5N -- VERY nice synth. Drawbacks? Size (it's HUGE, have a look at the pictures in my studio to get an idea), price (good luck finding one for grabs, let alone at an affordable price). CV only. (unless you get an outboard midi-cv converter) Lately they fetch prices around $USD4000-5000 depend...
