Re: help me make a hard choice a DSI must go...
Bummer. I have been there; Here's hoping you get out of the rut soon. And, more bad news. My choice if faced with that: Mopho x4 before MEK. Two main reasons: Evolver is proper parts analogue and chaos. Mopho x4 will fetch close to new prices right now since they're hot off the truck. You may get 2-...

Chimney Chop -- Allowed me to swap one synth for another that I dearly missed. Was prompt with communication, packed the synth meticulously, and is an all-around proper bloke to have around. Cheers, mate. GenghisJohn -- Bought one of my machines (that will be missed). Flawless transaction, paid qui...

Re: Which analogue synths do you want to see sampled?
I'v got the opportunity to sample some nice analogue synths. The samples will be made into a Kontakt Instrument and sold through http://www.samplephonics.com . The idea isn't to recreate the synth we're sampling, which is never going to be possible, more to provide a range of nice analogue multisam...

Re: how long for a new synth to show up used on eBay?
I've seen three Arturia Minibrute on eBay in a handful of weeks. I've seem as many or more Moog Minitaurs on eBay when it went public release too... My somewhat random guess is that you'll be seeing them here and there as soon as people start getting 'em. People are fickle. :? Set up an eBay saved s...

..and you can ditch the midi controller, and use it solely (and also use it to control other midi gear as you add). With all due respect, "ION as a MIDI controller" sounds questionable. Yeah, would work for just noteOn/noteOff/velocity/arps, but: no aftertouch IIRC, it sends out some cumbersome NRP...

Roland has planetary names, Korg has the Greek alphabet.
My vote is for the Roland Uranus. It's a sampler; An update to the MV8800.
Shove all of your samples in Uranus and out comes ...

Top contenders in my book, for this application: (purely my opinion, mind you given your circumstances) Alesis ION Moog Little Phatty DSI Mono Evolver Waldorf Blofeld Access Virus C or Indigo 2 Everything noted above save for the ION has a desktop module complement; so if you don't want keys, you ca...

Re: stupid question from stupid person
I believe (open to being corrected on this) that an encoder is a digital device that transmits signals that vary midi control data (or other digital control impulses). Potentiometers are analog in nature and allow direct manipulation of signals via resistance change (control voltage or audio signals...

Re: Arp Odyssey Restoration
Pretty brave. Saw a direct and rather heavy downpour of water and :o . How did you ensure 100% there was no water residual in the sliders or switches (or anywhere else for that matter)? What did you soak the boards in? It actually looks like it was in quite nice shape before you began cleaning it up...

Re: Which monosynth would you buy (Moog, ARP, or Yahama)?
I've been wanting to buy a reasonably priced '70s or '80s monosynth, and have lined up a few contenders. Each of them are relatively cheap, even in today's hyper-inflated synth market. In fact, all three come in at around $500. The contenders are: (1) Moog Micromoog, (2) ARP Axxe, and (3) Yamaha CS...

Re: A warning to all...
Who trades synths with people they don't know through the mail? A good portion of people, really. Not only modular, but synths in general. Trades happen all the time with parties in distant lands, and most times without incident. I've done trades and purchase/sales with folks in GB, DE, AU, and the...

A warning to all...
(from muffwiggler's forum) Joshua Jackson - AKA Allen Weldon (or whatever new name he makes up) is actively stealing from people, getting 'trades' sent to him and sending nothing in return. He's using Facebook to do it, having 'friended' a network of Wigglers and synth-scene people. BE CAREFUL. Foru...
