Re: Please recommend me a cheap midi controller/synthesizer
Novation KS4 -- 130729173429 I also have a M-Audio Ozonic MIDI Controller (that has a firewire audio interface built in as well) -- if you want it, drop me a PM. Obviously, under US$200. Other items that may come in around $200 - Novation X-Station Yamaha SY-77 (I think Alex E is still selling his h...

Re: The synth-pr0n thread.
Here is some extra p**n for you. http://www.atomicshadow.com/1/post/2012/07/the-more-things-change.html Dig the h**l out of the mid-century appeal your studio has. The JP8080 looks strangely out of place, however. ;) http://instagram.com/p/NGodmVOx-T/ This Modcan system is pretty epic. And sexy. An...

The synth-pr0n thread.
Happened to be nerding out today looking here and there, and happened upon this bloke's flickr page; (whom also is a muff resident, and evidently an all-around cracking synth technician) -- so I thought I'd share.
Loads of serious history in these photos.

Re: Forum's opinions/experience with vocoders
You didn't mention what platform you're on... Prosoniq Orange [here] Ableton Live has a Vocoder built in (to the fully registered version) Both produce nice sounding, obviously vocoded output. Reason has the BV512 -- if you're using reason, why not that? (I haven't played with it extensively) None c...

Re: Nice "gritty" sampler for EBM/industrial
Lo-Fi. Inexpensive. Extremely interesting. (some assembly required, admittedly - unless you know someone with one, or willing to build for you, and other challenges..) Where' the party at? Love mine. :D v2.x is on its way out (some day), I own a v1.0. It's absolutely lo-fi and works wonders on about...

Re: Any Advice on an Entry-Level Synth?
him, keyboard; me, guitar Without knowing what sort of stuff you're looking to play, for the first I would actually advise against anything vintage for the time being; with vintage gear comes headaches past what a casual player might consider acceptable. Repair fees, etc... Not at all fun if this i...

Re: Classic Stephen Hawking Voice Synthesizer?
Are there any of those speech programs that also sing, not just talk? I have an old program that came with my ancient soundblaster AWE64 sound card, called "Singing text". It needs to have the sound card to operate - it accesses a speech synthesis chip on the sound card. I would love to move away f...

Re: Classic Stephen Hawking Voice Synthesizer?
If you're looking for just something to type in words and out come speech, the MacOS still has 'say' which is free if you're on a Mac or running MacOS. There's also an iPhone/iPad app that does exactly that - but being at work, I can't remember what it's called at the moment. Edit coming later. Edi...

Stephen Hawking used the DecTalk DTC01; Sometimes you can find A DecTalk box on eBay or whatnot, if you're looking to keep it original. Re: Which Curtis poly to complement MKS-80?
If the OB-8 would butt out five inches behind the stand arms, I doubt the Matrix-12 would even balance on there. Xpander looks like it would fit easily on the stand, but I'm wondering why they didn't make it a rack unit. I also wonder if Xpander can provide 6 more voices to the Matrix-12. The other...
