Re: top 3 synths but what about maintenance
I've had my MS-20 for 18 years and never had a single problem with it, no tuning problems, scratchy pots, dodgy keys etc. Can't comment on the other 2.

Re: Korg ms10 problem...
You can't change the note priority AFAIK, that's just the way it is.
Give the MS-10 time, it's one of the most versatile single Osc synths ever made. Years ago I used to make whole tracks, including drums with just an MS-10 & some effects.

As soon as I posted my question I knew that a beer hat would be the response.
Now that is a piece of gear that makes me envious.

How are you supposed to hold your beer if you play another synth with your left hand ?tekkentool wrote:Hasn't anybody here heard of using their left hand?

Re: Alternative to Alesis micron?
Don't know the detailed Micron specs, but have you considered either a Roland JP-8000/8080 or Novation K-Station/KS-Rack/KS-4/5 second hand. Very good VAs with plenty of knobs/sliders for realtime tweaking. The Novation K-series are IMO ridiculously cheap for what they deliver. The main rotary encod...

Good choice. I think a mid-coloured wood would (ho ho !) be best. The sides in that pic look very nice.

I meant scrub my post, I originally posted a link to the schematics for an SK-15 instead of the SK-10.

Re: Dipping my toes in an analogue bubble bath...
I would go for the CS-15 over the CS-15D. The CS-15D is primarily a preset synth, with a pretty limited programmable synth section. While it does sound nice, it's a bit limited. The CS-15 is basically 2 CS-5's in one synth and has far more scope for sound creation. Not sure what prices of CS-15s are...

Yep, that too, although they seem to be a bit harder to come by than JX-8Ps, in the UK at least.scottrod wrote:First thing that popped into my head for the money was JX-10.
