Does it have to be totally all analogue ?
If not, then I'd recommend either a Roland JD-800, or a Korg DW-8000/EX-8000. Both can sound very analogue and are pad monsters.
If yes, then a Roland JX-8P (preferably with the PG-800) would be a good fit too.

Re: Putting together a rack...
Probably some synths and rack effects would be best.
If you are asking which ones, then you might need to provide some more info, such as what type of music/sounds do you make, what is your budget, do you have a preference for digital/analog, vintage/modern etc etc.

Re: USB Audio I/F Help
That's great news, many thanks. I just mentioned the M-Audio as an example as it seemed to appear relentlessly when I Googled "USB Audio I/F".
Now I know it'll work I'll do some digging around & check out the Presonus.

USB Audio I/F Help
Please forgive the total noobishness of this question, but I'm a sub-novice at using computers for music outside of doing MIDI sysex dumping & patch editing. I have acquired a laptop which has a few VSTi synths on it which I would like to record externally to a Tascam 2488neo. When listening to the ...

Re: Synthesis 3011
And of course, thought control. Think it and it happens. That's the one for me. Sometimes I have a sound in my head that I cannot reproduce on any synth, or even describe what the sound is or even hum anything close to it, I just 'hear' it in my brain. Also, related to that, a portable device for r...

You might be able to grab a Roland JV-1080 with the Orchestral Expansion card (SR-JV80-2) close to your upper cash limit.

Re: Your most reliable vintage synth? ;)
All of my vintage synths are very reliable, apart from my PolySix which has one occasionally dodgy key which rectifies itself once the synth has warmed up. I always try to make sure they are in good shape when I buy them. Also, they are never gigged, never exposed to extremes of heat/cold, or dust/s...

Yes. Say 5 Hail Marys and wash your mouth out with soap. Then change your name from AnalogKid to VSTiKid.AnalogKid wrote:Am I speaking vintage synth blasphemy?

Do you want me to service your car and eat your dinner for you as well ;) To send a sysex dump from the KS to your computer, connect it all up as before. Start MIDIOX. Open the Sysex window. Click on the Sysex tab. On the KS, go to the utilities menu, select the Transmit MIDI Sysex Dump with a value...

Re: Novation KS Rack Factory Patches
OK. You need a MIDI utility like MIDIOX (http://www.midiox.com/). Download & install this on your computer. Then, you need a MIDI to USB cable (something like an Edirol UM-1), that has a USB connection on one end and 2 MIDI connections on the other. Connect the KS to the computer with the MIDI to US...
