and that a DARN high amount of preset patches tended to be offered, and well, you end up with a ton of people that just start using the ROMplers as these "preset" things and never really bother digging into them. Are you saying tat the presets on your average rompler are actually syntethis patches ...

Thanks. I was allways wondering what the P2500 actually did. Whenever I looked up reviews no-one seemed to say if it was a Rompler or a synth. I've never looked into the V-Synth as it allways seemed to be overhyped and I've never given a thought to the K2600. How odd. Good food for thought there. C...

This is largely what gets me a lot of the time when I hear folks rant on about how many VAs don't sound "analogue". In some cases I'd agree, but in the case of most of the higher end VAs, I'd almost always disagree. The thing is, does "analogue" sound "analogue". That is to say, there tend to be so ...

PC combined with knob box or something like I Neko is truly probably the best way to go. But when dealing with the more conventional affairs, I'd also place the EMU P2500, the Roland V-Synth, and of course, the Kurzweil K2600 (good ol VAST). The P2500 doesn't have a control surface that comes even c...

Re: It's unfair. I'm left out.
Following the examples of synthheads around the world, I wanted to list my gear list. There is a 255 character limit in the signature. I need a lot more than 255 character to do that. What am I supposed to do now? Can anybody solve this problem? And if not, why must I be the one whose gearlist will...

I'v got an MP7 - but am still coming to grips with it. I want to use it as a drum machine. Don't think I'v got anywhere near its potential. But in many ways I don't like it. I bought it coz it was ridiculously cheap and I'm kind of stuck with it, as i can't imagine getting such a fancy piece of kit...

don't have a lot of time to write right now. But the P2500/CS is a friggin beast. If you like Modular concepts....you're in for a blast. In any regard, when I have some more time I'll try to get back for a more detailed write up. In the meantime, here is a write up focusing on one of it's capabiliti...

I wasn't going to contribute to this thread, as I felt it's premise was completely off, but I've finally caved in. Like I said, I think the premise is entirely off. Industrial, in it's purest form, was a result of experimentation. And in this vein, once one elects to pin out down forumlaicly, they'r...

If you just want them as a simple tone module, either can top out depending on the specific circumstance. I'd take the EMU Vintage Strings over what Roland had to offer similarly for the JV. But I'd take a strong JV piano set over EMU's perfect piano. Now, that aside, from a sheer sound sculpting po...

I think you are right 23... though a step 64 or two could be used instead of the internal sequencers... and with the 503 holding down the Bass, HH, and Snares, and the 502 holding down the toms and BD as well... you could probably make the set-up usable. Yeah, but it'd still be really really heavy ...

I actually think running all that MFB gear would be sort of a nightmare. It's just my personal view, but given the quirkiness of the Synth II sequencer for example (yes, it makes the TB sequencer look like a dream in MANY ways), the amount of paramaters you can grab at any given time on the 502 and ...
